You didn't consider dumpster diving first? Tried that. All I found were untouched copies of Blair Witch.

Time to watch something horrible, I guess. Something like... Doom Asylum.

I am in the minority who thinks the theatrical version is fine. Even though I wouldn't mind seeing the director's cut, I feel the same about the theatrical version. Difference is, one of the bigger draws for the sequel for me was the fact that it was completely different from BWP.

Finished version 1.0 of my cut. I am in the process of rendering and uploading now. I will drop a link here for download. It runs for 75 minutes roughly including the credits. "bigblair was never seen again. Version 1.0 of their cut was found a year later, underexposed and useless." - Stephen Ryan Parker

Merry Christmas, everyone! I just wanted to drop by to say that. A family emergency popped up and has been my main focus since it happened (aside from work, of course). Not sure when I'll be back, but I doubt it will be a year-long absence like before. I hope you are all doing well!
Happy Yak Shaving Day/Yaksmas!

The Equalizer 2 Couldn't watch the second half. Dragged on. Boring. Watched that about two weeks ago and I really liked it. I totally agree that about 2/3 of the movie really drags and it feels like there was a lot that could have been cut to alleviate that feeling, but I really like Denzel Washington's portrayal of Robert McCall and the finale, to me, made it worthwhile. One of the things I didn't like so much about it was the portrayal of McCall as a Superman of sorts. He hardly ever got hit by anyone and always had the upper hand, even when something unexpected came into the picture. On the other hand, since people like to compare them, I kinda absolutely dread the John Wick movies because they feel so boring to me. The action isn't interesting because it feels so inconsequential and cartoon-ish overall (ex: John and Cassian beating the ever-loving crap out of one another and seemingly brushing every blow off, then launching one another down three sets of stone steps, each one bouncing off them harshly, and both getting right back up and continuing to move like not a damn thing hurt. It takes away from any enjoyment or immersion in the scenes). I do applaud that John at least gets hurt, but the character still has a Superman vibe to it (in that there is never a scene that leads me to believe he will be at a disadvantage somehow).

I've been afraid to watch it, because I keep hearing about a 50/50 split on it... and I don't want to be disappointed. Shane Black already disappointed me with the horrible Iron Man 3 (easily the worst of the trilogy, though not the Marvel-verse).

I Love You To Death (1990)
I forgot how great this movie is. A lot of dark comedies are hit and miss for me - this one is certainly a hit through and through.

I like the old man in the movie, totally cool and sounded real great, Tasha yar from the first season of Star trek tng was also nice to see, the way Gage stumbled backward after being knocked out with the tranquilizer was cool and maybe even reversed filmed it kinda looks like it. In the book which was super boring, SUPER BORING, the ending of that movie should have been more exact to the book in the way of imagery, that would have lifted it's cool status way more. The "dad" in pet sem 2 saved that movie from having a cool status at super low levels man! So f#cking crazy and totally capable of being dangerous it was so believable to think getting in his way was a bad idea. Not tranquilizer, but an overdose of morphine to kill him (and Church) again. Herman Munster Fred Gwynne was awesome as Jud Crandall and, as much as I love John Lithgow, I just wasn't feeling his version of the character from the trailer (not to say I won't like it when I see the movie, though). Also, no way to reverse falling over a ladder/whatever that was and knocking your head like that kid did in the movie. The backwards stumble played out the way we witnessed. That scene broke my heart, though. "No fair. No fair, no fair."

This reminds me about 3 years ago I walked into a Subway because I needed to take a leak and as the girl employee was handing me the keys she goes "please don't do any drugs in there".. It seemed like a pretty stupid thing to say. I've never used drugs in my life. I don't think if somebody walks in to use the restroom anywhere that the employee needs to ask them not to use drugs in there. That's pretty rude. But that's the society we've gotten to I guess. Sadly, that is the world we live in now. Many people go to an establishment and use the restroom to do drugs. Hell, they had to close down the restroom in our public library after a while because drug addicts were ODing in it and one guy just went crazy and wrecked it. Public restrooms at the park? Don't even think about it...

Death House (2018)
Touted as 'The Expendables of Horror' by the producers, this movie is staggeringly disappointing. And highly nonsensical. The plot presented to us tries to be smart and highly complex just by how the Death House workers go about explaining their work, but it really just comes off as a babbling mess of stupid that nobody would ever green-light in the real world (and the audacity of how it is presented as being serious in the movie makes the idea of it existing in a fictional universe just as ludicrous). The nudity is pointless, utterly. A useless shower scene (all of the dialogue could have been covered another way), and there is a scene where they rip the clothes off of drugged women just to show they have different breast sizes. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Dee Wallace's performance is so flat and emotionless through the entirety of her appearance that is it painful to actually watch any scenes she's in. Tons of slasher/horror icons from the 80s and 90s in this, but the talent feels wasted by and large. Small cameos, some without a single piece of dialogue, and forgettable characters round out most of the appearances. Tony Todd's, sadly, doesn't even make a lick of sense. Then again, neither does most of the movie.
I'm not expecting a masterpiece when I watch a horror movie (that isn't to say you won't find a masterpiece horror movie), but with a title like this, as the cast it supports, I was expecting something at least entertaining. If they wanted this to be a serious horror movie, they really should have fleshed out the plot more and made it somewhat feasible. If they wanted a parody-comedy horror (which this unintentionally feels like, only without any laughs), they should have had Lloyd Kaufman help pen the script instead of just giving him a cameo where he could be his corny self (as a surgeon, might I note).

F'ng love Carter's work. BoS may have its issues, but damn is that one extraordinary, and complex, soundtrack. I was glad to read that he was pleased with the score as well... (and the name of the image file - BW2_carterbslappin3.jpg - lol!

I was wondering why Burwell called Red Snow ... Red Snow. The shredded paper was white.. so why red? (things that make ya go hmm) Likely because the cue also 'bled' into the scene where Tristen is bleeding for all to see from the miscarriage.

I think we all have that kind of story, lostinthewoods. Last time I checked out the old neighborhood, prime time video had turned itself into a combo video store/pet shop to survive, but it didn't make it, now it's a dollar store. My Blockbuster was left vacant for about a year before a Domino's Pizza set up shop in half the building. The other half is still empty. And I hate Domino's Pizza (like, just in general).

Unless of course you decided to keep all 10 versions as a way of teaching a class how to edit an extremely difficult film. If you did that, you bastard. *to tenebris* What? No, of course not. Don't be silly. *to the rest of the members of the boards* Classes start in early January. Send me a PM to sign up before December. Cost will be discussed then.

By the way, I really liked your final cut here. It has been a while since I watched the one you had before, and it is gone now anyway, but I don't think a lot more was cut outside of maybe a few seconds overall and maybe a scene placement change or two. Did I miss anything big?

...if it doesn't feature Carter Burwell's "Still in the Hills" in the beginning, than that ain't it. Luckily, the cut we're talking about is one and the same. BHH, please just change the link each time you give it out after about 24 hours. Humor me. Thanks. Can and will do, good sir.
