The screening was sold out. Ed and Dan introduced the film and said some remarks. After the film, Ed, Dan, Gregg, Mike, Rob & Ben got up on stage for 30 min and did a q and a session. The next day had brunch w/ the gang and spent the rest of the night just hanging out and talking and laughing a lot. It was completely worth the trip. Those guys are wonderful and loved being there and seeing them all together in the same room is a rarity and fun.

THe scene with mike's confession was cut before it got to Sundance. It's not as intense as Heathers though.

I'll be in Sundance from 1/31-2/2
The special screening on 2/1 will have in attendance: Gregg Hale, Dan Myrick, Ed Sanchez, Mike Monello, Rob Cowie & Ben Rock
I'm not sure what the evening has planned but i'll be reporting from Sundance and can't wait to watch the film in the same theater it premiered in!

thanks for following along guys. Tweek thank you for the dedicated section. It was a great weekend. It wasn't the 70 that people had signed up but 26 people and i'd say 22 of those were new people so i was delighted to meet new folks. I'm extremely exhausted and still have to unpack and get some other work done.
I have the basic outline for next year's Experience done so i'll start fleshing that out this week and will have a date soon.
Onward to the 20th!

i've noticed when old school BWP fans talk about not liking BW16 its almost like they take personal offense to the film and each time they talk about its like the film walked into their home and told them their children were ugly. Its comical and i can't figure out why.

So what goes on at the motel Friday night? Drunken poetry readings and the like? Or something more... sinister? The mind boggles well we start w/ the virgins and move our way up. Next comes the chanting and rituals. Mostly hanging out, watching some footage and getting to know everyone.

yes they have internet lol.
The Mayor is going to come out to the Blair Witch Experience and say hello and even welcomed us to Burkittsville. So i'm hoping this is a start of good things to come.

i met with the gentleman yesterday down in Burkittsville. The cemetery is private property, always has been, its run by a 501c3. The new board was just elected this year and when they found out about the event they sent me this. This letter is not specific to the Blair Witch Experience but for any large group going to the cemetery. The gentleman was very nice and understands the event and knows we don't mean harm. He knows the town has a long memory (as long as 151 people can have) and he's very ok with us being there. I have to get an insurance policy which is smart anyway but I am going to get in touch with the mayor and talk to her as well.
I'm going to take this as an opportunity to bridge the gap between the town and fans and hopefully mend those wounds from 1999.

It's too bad it wasn't executed better. I enjoyed all the obscure fan references and liked some of the concepts - mainly the cover-up in Burkittsville. This was suggested in Curse and Shadow as well as (depending on your interpretation) BOS. The acting (and much of the sound / camera work) was beyond awful, though. Parson Rust is my favorite "reference" in the movie

Cool. Free advertising. Why early this year? Well the new Halloween comes out the following weekend and I know that'll be big and its an off year between the filming 97 and next year being the 20th so I figured the weekend this year wasn't as important as it will be next year.
