Looks fine. Kim's makeup looks whiter while still preserving the other colors that we are used to.

To go any deeper (like your test videos) would bug the eye sockets. Although, the washed out look is cool too if in a true BW2 mood.

Thanks. The idea was to simply remove the brown filter whilst keeping everything else as is with a more realistic look. I like it a lot.

For instance, I once made a BW2 trailer and then later overlaid a filter that gave it a dream quality.

Adding too much of the new color grading makes white things stand out too much with a glare.

Kim's supposed to be a goth. Her face should be very white. Like clown makeup white. The brighter less-brown versions look better to my eye. Just my preference for what it's worth.

This post should not be taken as a change in my opinion of the film. I'm sure your edits are very good. I haven't seen them.  Doing that would require me to sit through BoS again.  I'd rather pass a kidney stone.

I think Eileen was very lonely in her grave until Kim showed up and communed with her. "Trying to find the energy" was the truth. Kim just wouldn't admit it to the rest of them, being complete strangers to her, so she played it off as being exhausted from her trip.

Going back and listening to Eileen on the bridge.. maybe I'm tricking myself into believing that she's actually saying "I brought it back with you!" rather than "you brought it back with you!"

It would mean the ghost of Treacle is lamenting, and would finally provide a real reason for her grave and ghost being in the film, regardless of original script dialogue not adding up to my theory (if it's ever proven that it doesn't)

My cut is 20 minutes shorter than the studio version .. I removed everything that had anything to do with Berlinger. No media coverage. No talk of Blair Witch being a movie. Stripped bare to the core story.

I just realized my cut is actually: The Berlinger Removal Cut.

And there's something else that's always kind of stuck in the back of my brain when it came to your Artisan Removal cut. As far as I've ever known the only thing that Berlinger didn't agree with was the tour group massacre footage and the interrogations popping up throughout the film. In his DVD commentary, I don't recall him saying anything about Jeff's asylum flashbacks not being part of his own plan.

I know you have things that go beyond what I know in his commentary.

He mentions specifically about those scenes being forced as re-shoots and how the media got all pissy about those scenes in particular. I can tell you myself that an Artisan producer of some kind was bragging about 'making Berlinger do this and do that', and that was filming those scenes. Yes, they are Berlinger scenes in the style they were shot, and he doesn't dislike how he filmed them. They were shot after he handed in his final directors cut and then added later in studio editing phase (Artisan editing stage)

Ben Rock also said that he mentioned Titicut Follies, and this same Artisan person suggested it be filmed in that style of Titicut Follies.

Even I like those scenes. They are well shot and the music goes really well with them, they just give the viewer the impression that Jeff is 'the villain' throughout the film, they're just really out of place.

To me, Jeff's mysterious asylum history gives his character a wild card mystique.

The mentions of him being in a hospital are not. There is no single chance that they had that many re-shoots of Jeff mentioning a hospital or other characters, example 'Crazy Boy' from Tristen, or loony bin from Cravens.

This is why it crossed my mind once to put the Asylum scenes after the interrogation scenes during the credit roll of the Artisan edit. Though I decided not to as it technically is 'Artisan' and goes against the edit and Berlinger's vision.
