Haven't been on here in a while! Thought people here might like to know Book of Shadows has finally been released on Blu-ray as part of a limited edition collection in Spain! I picked it up, the transfer is the same one that's been on HD streaming for a while but obviously in a higher bitrate plus it has a DTS-HD Master audio track in English (and Spanish if you prefer). The only extra on BW2 is the Burkitsville 7 documentary and trailers for BWP and BW2. Who knows if this will ever get a release anywhere else so if you want BW2 on Blu-ray check it out - www.amazon.es/Blair-Witch-Project-1-and-2-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B08H231V8J

Both discs are region free. I ran BW2 through BDInfo to get exact info on bitrate etc, it revealed that the transfer is actually in 1080i instead of 1080p but it is NTSC compatible and looked nice when I watched it. Also the extras are PAL, but the Burkitsville 7 documentary has been on other releases so it's not as if you lose something unique by not being able to play that. Things to consider if you want to buy it though, and I don't see Lionsgate making any moves to release this on disc so it might end up being the only option. Here's the BDInfo scan of the main movie; Disc Label: LIBRO DE LAS SOMBRAS Disc Size: 22,165,448,062 bytes Protection: AACS Playlist: 00001.MPLS Size: 20,168,478,720 bytes Length: 1:30:12.640 Total Bitrate: 29.81 Mbps Video: MPEG-4 AVC Video / 22755 kbps / 1080i / 29.970 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1 Audio: Spanish / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1793 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 768 kbps / 16-bit) Audio: English / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 3592 kbps / 24-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 768 kbps / 24-bit) Subtitle: Spanish / 0.333 kbps Subtitle: Spanish / 31.150 kbps Subtitle: English / 31.540 kbps I also compared the BluRay to the 1080i WebRip that's been floating around for a while. Print damage shows it's the same transer, Blu is on the left the WebRip on the right. I'll let you decide if you can spot a difference between them;;

I don't see much difference. I've always thought that this was an upscale rather than a 1080 remaster. Didn't see LG spending any real money on this one.

It's probably the same master they used for the DVD release, but they would usually scan those in HD then downscale them for the DVD. There is more detail and definition than the DVD has but not as much as there would be if the scan was made with the intention of it being a Blu-ray. Normally now movies would be scanned at either 2K or 4K then downscaled to 1080p.
I don't think this release is exactly "official", Spain has a lot of bootleg releases that do use HD masters and press proper retail discs, but they aren't licensed. A recent example of this is True Lies, Spain is the only place you can get that on Blu-ray but it isn't an official release. I'm happy to have BoS on a proper Blu-ray even if it is the same version that's on streaming, LG have shown zero interest so I'll take this over nothing at all.

If I liked the movie more I'd consider it.

FYI i spoke to the producer of the Vestron Video label range from Lionsgate (and also red Shirt Productions who do the special features) and asked him about Blair Witch 2 and Joe's original cut and he said that they did try to do it but there were too many legal issues around it
Shame really but at least there was an effort
