I was 9 years old when the movie was released and it both created and cemented my dream to get into film. Everything about the film fascinated me, the concept, the unorthodox filming AND marketing technique... It's not that I want to make "the next Blair Witch Project" No one can take that title and it's getting boring watching people try and fall short. I just want to do something as different and memorable as they pulled off... Hell I could come halfway and still die a happy girl. The following year, my brother helped me buy my first video camera. It was a crappy little thing and the tapes didn't even have proper adapters on the market, but I'd sit for HOURS in front of the TV with my camera on the AV cable starting and stopping and hitting record, all while listening to the "soundtrack" in my headphones.... I never managed to merge the audio and video together into one, but I made some pretty cool stuff I like to think. That same brother is going to school to get into the audio tech side of film. He used to literally be able to throw a rock from his backyard and hit Tippett Studio where his dream job lives XD Maybe we'll collab someday!

That's awesome! Hope you are successful in creating your dream film! I too saw the film and instantly started plotting my own homemade found footage movie. Fun fact. While filming a bunch of fake supernatural scenes for the film, I accidentally captured some real deal ghost activity. Turns out the house we were filming at had a long history of being haunted. Or maybe it was the witch. I'll never truly know.

I used to be a massive horror fan in the late 80's. Freddy and the Elm Street series was my favorite. But once the 90's started the genre really became cheesy and taboo and I started focusing on other things. I would eventually fall back in love with the Elm Street series and especially 80's horror, but back in 1999 I wasn't interested. However,I remember seeing ads in magazines like Entertainment Weekly for this movie called the Blair witch project. I saw the creepy looking poster with a review calling it "the scariest film since the Exorcist," and I became interested. I picked up an issue of Fangoria that summer for the first time in years and they were raving about it. The more I heard about the movie, the more fascinated I became. I finally went to see it one afternoon at a local theater. I knew going in that it wasn't real. I just remember that for the entire film I felt like I was holding my breath. I had never seen anything like that before and once the movie was over I didn't know how to feel. It wasn't untill later that night when the true impact hit me. I went to bed and laid there in the dark for a minute or so,before I jumped up and turned the light on. I keep imagining what is creeping around in the darkness around me. For the next week I couldn't go to bed unless the living room light was on. I've never had a movie before or since affect me like that. I've never been that scared of any movie before. Not only the movie, but every single tie in freaked me out. The Curse of the Blair witch and the Blair witch dossier were just as weird and creepy as the film. I've had this obsession with that original movie ever since. Plus, for a while after a had a massive crush on Heather. lol

Hey earthboundfan1986Thanks for showing interest in the project! The film is still in early development. I will definitely share the film with the board once it's complete.

Seeing it recently,it obviously doesn't have the same effect but I still find it a very creepy film. I think having it shot as a hand held film really helps that for me. A lot of people may not like that style, but it makes me feel as if I'm right there. Even if there was no witch or anything supernatural, being hungry and lost in the woods(esp. at night)is unnerving. But I have to say, that the moment where you hear Josh screaming in the night after going missing during the day, still gives me chills. Both Mike and Heather are starting to cry and Heather screams,"Oh my God!" It's still so powerful.

I was rewatching this recently while I was alone at home and as the film got to the end in the house…I had to shut it off. I was way, way too creeped out. I couldn’t finish even though I knew what was coming. One of the best horror films ever. I would say top 3 of the horror genre. Handily.
