In the new movie, Heather briefly manifests before her brother. Slightly rotting looking face, her clothes from the first film hanging from her in rags. She had an empty look in her eyes.
I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks of this scene. Is it Heather’s spirit? Is it Heather repeating a timeline that is briefly intersecting with her brothers, hence the disappearing? Or is it a representation of the witches playground, where nothing is quite as it seems?
Personally, it made me sad to think of our gal Heather stuck in time like that. That youthful energy and spunkiness devoid from her form.

I've often heard the rumor that the creature in the film(the one with the elongated limps)is actually Heather. Everyone thought it was the Blair witch herself, but I know the filmmakers shot down that theory. I'm not sure if that was really Heather in the movie,or if that's just what the witch wanted her brother to see. Still,a sad image to see. I actually liked the characters of Heather,Mike and Josh. And so when you like characters it's hard seeing them killed or trapped in some horrible purgatory like that.

I wouldn’t say the producers ‘shot down the theory that we saw the witch’, nobody bought that explanation, more like they were trying to placate an angry section of the fanbase who didn’t appreciate the witch being visible.

Whatever the intentions with having monsters in the movie, their inclusion was quite a spectacular misfire IMO. I read somewhere that the long limb thing was Lisa projecting based on the description she’d heard from Lane and Talia of the witch having her arms and legs weighted when she was banished (another stupid and crass moment in the film). Despite it being stupid, I prefer the idea of the characters conjuring images of what they imagined the witch looked like in their terror rather than it actually seeing the witch. But if that was the intention then it was mishandled and didn’t work, just like the rest of the film.

You never show the witch. Your imagination can conjure things more terrible than anything that can be put on screen.

I'm not sure if by the point the witch is a physical being, but is more of a part of the woods itself...if that makes any sense?

I would say it is Heather but controlled by the witch. Still being kept alive spiritually. Her brief appearence then dissapearence in the scene indicates shes part of the woods now. I wouldnt be against Heather still being alive in some form and being able to communicate with her.
