Just wanted to see if anyone is as excited as I am for the next IT movie coming out in September. The original terrified me as a kid and now I'm counting down the days until the remake comes out.

God dammit. I was all excited to see It this weekend then my wife springs it on me that we have to visit her family in Wisconsin... I was really looking forward to this. Any ideas how to get out of this trip? I would fake illness but I never get sick. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it not showing there too? Work on a good excuse and slip away for a couple hours. It'll work!

I liked it more than I thought I would. Still loud and obnoxious in parts like every scary movie these days, but better than most that come out. I never really familiarized myself with the story of IT before seeing this movie and I couldn't help but notice the similarities with Blair Witch. Every 27 years an event happens that makes the entity's presence known. Children and adults going missing, dying; general catastrophes. Like with Blair Witch, my favorite aspect of the story was the mythology behind everything. The book of the history of Derry, Maine reminded me of Curse of the Blair Witch. There's even the story about the original founders eventually abandoning the town due to its curse.
I wonder how much if any at all IT was used as inspiration for Blair. I don't recall any interviews with the creators noting Stephen King or IT as inspirations.

I never saw the original so I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe that's a good thing?

I never saw the original so I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe that's a good thing? I have not seen the remake yet, but the original was actually really, really faithful to the book. There were a few changes here and there, but nothing astronomical and certainly nothing that hurt by comparison (the subplots that were dropped were not pivotal, and some were dropped for the same reason they didn't make it into the theatrical version: extremely underage sex, even if it was used to represent a transition from childhood to adulthood). They had to shave a lot off because it was a.) a 1,000+ page book being made into a two-part, four-hour miniseries (originally planned for a four-part, eight-hour run, but that was nixed) and b.) it aired on ABC... in 1990. Even the ABC of 2017 cannot showcase the full aspect of what King had penned in those pages. That being said, a large majority of the characters, plot and feel remain true to the the book in transition to the screen, and I really, really don't think Bill SkarsgÄrd will be able to outshine Tim Curry as Pennywise. It really was an iconic performance, especially considering it was made-for-TV. Without commercials, it is about 190 minutes for both parts and, I would recommend at least watching the first part (around 90 mins.), as they both (1990 Pt. 1 and the movie) only center around the Losers Club when they were children and first encountered It.

I watched a bad quality bootleg copy last night. Not bad from what I was able to see. Which wasn't much. The dark scenes were so dark I could see nothing. And the sound quality was equally bad. I'll give it another look when I've got a proper copy.

If the Blair Witch and Pennywise fought each other, the clown would be toast.

I found a better looking copy of IT today. So I'll be giving IT another look. See what I did there? After that I'll binge watch season 2 of Stranger Things...

Ok. Seen it again. Pretty good actually. Pennywise is kinda like Freddy. Uses whatever the victim is afraid of and creates illusions of that. The town of Derry seems a lot like Blair. Something bad happens every so many years. I suppose there will be a sequel, as it ends with "Chapter One". The Bathroom of Blood was a nice scene. I still say the Blair Witch would mop the floor with him. As he would have no fear to draw on. Besides he got beat by a bunch of kids. Not much of a baddie at all really.

Cravens talking to Pennywise:
"Wipe that s--t off your face. You think your makeup and clown shoes give you POW-AHH! But you're just a scared, cowardly little girl underneath all that."
I hate that I know that quote. I've tried to repress the memories of watching that movie. But it won't go away. Stuck in my brain like a toomah. Or a TUNA. Who knows what Arnold's trying to say here:

Yeah. It looks pretty good. Not that I advocate piracy, of course. I do not.

i really like the remake of IT, it seemed all spiced up and super shiny with the new special effects, i really liked the consideration of putting the character patrick hockstetter, that guy was a total psycho in the book.

Actually, I've watched my cut so many times now that it actually DOES make me forget all the stupid lines and shit! I know this because I went through the original recently and was amazed at all the little stupid shit my cut actually MADE ME forget! Try it. It works!
