Just got back from seeing it and I still have a smile on my face. Holy crap. Now that was a satisfying ending. I liked this better than The Force Awakens. The first half is a little slow but the second half kicks ass. Go see it Lots of things to like here. Several characters from Episode IV are here. Or CGI versions of them. We get a little Vader action. Not too much. He's not the big bad in this. Lots of stormtroopers bite the dust. Space battles. Humor provided by a new droid. I liked how the last shot of this film ties to the opening shot of A New Hope. There were cheers and applause when the credits came up. Everyone left happy. This is what TFA should have been.
Full house at the showing I attended. I wish Blair Witch had gotten crowds like that. They'd be shooting the next sequel right now. Alas.

It was much better than Force Awakens. Not too self-aware, not a remake or reboot. A direct prequel/sequel. Just as Force Awakens SHOULD have been. I feel that finally Star Wars really is back.
I'm reading a lot of people saying the first half was slow. I thought the entire movie's pacing was perfect. I had such a good time, I'm afraid to see it again, as my opinion of Force Awakens changed wildly between just two different viewings.

Wish they had done the text crawl at the beginning. Doesn't feel like Star Wars without one.

I didn't really like rogue one. The ending was awesome, but overall, I was bored for most of the movie.
