Actually, if Blair had been released today, the 22 hours would have made for an amazing Netflix or Showtime series presentation (though series productions tend to be passive and Blair Witch is the antithesis of that). The full material is that good. One of the frustrations for Ed and Dan in the edit was selecting what not to use. Initially there were only supposed to be a series of brief clips used as cutaways in a doc. But cutting it down to, in example 15 hours, was hard enough, cutting it down to 15 minutes was nearly impossible. What H, J and M delivered was pure gold. Hence deciding to release the footage AS the film instead of a doc. But still that required cutting it down to an 81 to 88 minute feature, which was a massive, massive challenge. But they did it, and did it well, quite obviously.
The entire footage uninterrupted hasn't a dull moment, it's loaded with material; an editor's absolute dream and absolute nightmare at the same time. So Ed having a desire to expand on it makes full sense. It is only that Ed cannot make that decision. That child of his grew up, went to college and was emancipated in the stroke of a pen when Artisan/Lions Gate purchased the rights.

I also want it to include the Woods Movie documentary plus a new commentary track from some haxan boys. It would also be nice if they could get Mike and Josh involved in that commentary (Heather too, but I highly doubt she would)

I'm sorry if I ask stupid questions, but why did you specifically mention 2019? Is it a year they say they might do the work and put out a extended version or is it only the year of the 20th anniversary? And also how come you said it's very unlikely heather will participate in the commentary?

I'd like a 20th anniversary blu ray with the original 2 hour 30 minute cut the actors talked about. I know I'd get bored watching the 22 hour footage because more than likely it's just filler or just things that are meant to be left out (like deleted scenes that dont add anything to the plot). Possibly audio commentary with the actors if possible or just the directors. Lionsgate has the directors cut of both 1 and 2 hostage unfortunately. I'd like to see those.
I'd love a 20th anniversary addition with the extra footage,a new documentary about the film and it's legacy and an all new commentary with Heather,Mike and Josh. Maybe even a small documentary about the fans. Something that focuses on their love of the movie, their interaction with the cast and filmmakers and showing off their BW collections;etc. I'd LOVE this!
