I bring this up as an urban legend/myth because people... to this day... actually still believe it's real. It was made in 1989, shot on the primitive home video technology of the time and was Blair Witch before Blair was Witched. I've gotten into serious arguments with people who refuse to believe it's not real.
Even when you show them it was remade they won't believe it. People will threaten your life if you tell them the remake isn't real either. Some idiot actually believed Emmanuelle Chriqui was sent back by the aliens. I'm not kidding, and neither were they.
And, yes, the remake was pre-Blair too. Probably shot a year before it.

That's the full movie? I'll have to watch when I have time. Yeah, not the UPN special. And in glorious VHS from SDTV quality!

Man, I remember when Incident in Lake County aired. With the vampire special before it. But Lake County freaked me out. Ha,gave me nightmares. Even though I noticed the credits listing Alien 1, Alien 2, etc. And I think the kid filming it was from one of the Ghost Writer shows. I didn't know about the original until much later. Bad thing is that I enjoyed this, yet no one seems to remember it.

Does anyone even remember UPN? My cable company didn't carry it. So I never got to see it. But I remember there was such a thing. UPN and The WB merged and became The CW. Which is still on. And has all the DC comics shows.

It was Channel 12 here back in the day, in western NC. I seem to recall that they showed Star Trek too. That is about all I remember.

Wow, looked it up. UPN showed a heck of a lot more than I remember. I take it that I didn't watch that channel often.

Production[edit] UFO Abduction was written, directed, filmed, and produced by Dean Alioto, through IndieSyndicate Productions.[2][3] The film is a mockumentary similar in presentation to 1999's The Blair Witch Project, which presents the final recordings and last known whereabouts of a Connecticut family named the Van Heeses just before they are abducted by extraterrestrials.[4] Dean Alioto produced the no budget film using $6,500.00 from the company IndieSyndicate Productions.[5]
Release[edit] The film had a limited release through Axiom Films. Created to appear as a genuine 1983 home video recording, the film is widely believed (erroneously) by Axiom Films, to depict a real alien abduction of a Connecticut family named "the McPhersons" as they celebrate their relative's 5th birthday.[4]
Remake[edit] Dean Alioto and Paul Chitlik remade UFO Abduction in 1998, with a larger budget and professional actors, into Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County. Dean Alioto has since discussed his two films.

Which seemed ironic.

Just watched the original. Just about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. The 555 phone number at the end was ridiculous.
It jogged my memory. I must have seen it once a long, long time ago. (and in a galaxy far, far away)

I finally got around to watching the original. Thanks for posting it. Definitely brought back the memories of watching the one on UPN. Seriously, if someone would have gave me a copy of this on vhs back in the day (without the title and credits). it probably would have freaked me out. Well, until the end. But I was a little kid then, so it probably would have freaked me out.
