My anticipation level for this film is "goes outside and makes a stick figure with some dry grass blades and hot glue I run to the CVS down the road to get"-tier. I made some of these back in 2009 when I first got into the film/media, but they were loosely tied with twine and weren't stable. I'm hoping the glue keeps this one together, but I suspect these grass blades might fall apart easily over time. That and the bark underlying the sticks. Nobody wouldn't happen to know a way to better preserve these materials, would they? In any case, I'm sorely tempted to bring this with me to the theater, but the practicalities of how to carry it along hold me back. One of my roommates suggested making it a medallion of sort, but it would look awkward, what with the outreach of this guy being larger than my hand.

You need twine. That grass won't hold for long. The glue will but you'll lose the grass.
22 hours now. Tick tock...

You need twine. That grass won't hold for long. The glue will but you'll lose the grass. 22 hours now. Tick tock... Figures. I felt the grass would look nice as a more "made from the remains in the woods" feel (since I doubt Elly would've been able to just go and grab a bunch of twine for hers), but I know it's a fickle material. Aw well, should last me through the weekend, at the very least. (Probably should skip making it my buddy for the theater trip, though...) As for the film itself, I'm trying out a fancy AMC in town with the "Cinema Suites" option. It's probably a detriment to the horror experience to be in a theater with lounge chairs and food service equivalent to a three-course meal, but hey, it's a cinema I've wanted to try for ages, and its still theater food, so I'm for sure gonna be conserving my wallet.

Sad that this place will go back to normal in a month or so. Was nice to have it back up. But they couldn't be bothered to release it near Halloween.

I think it'll stay pretty active until the dvd release and possible speculation if there could be more. But yeah, we're probably at our peak right now.

It's clear that those early glowing reviews were bought and paid for. Smelled fishy from the start.

But Dan Aykroyd said that the new Ghostbusters film was going to be so good! And… Oh.

It'll turn a profit. Just not a big one. Blair Witch, not Ghostbusters.
Two viewings is enough for me. Next time I see it will be on blu-ray.

So Wingard has said that he hid Heather's map in the new movie as an easter egg. No one on twitter has figured out where/when it appears though.. I'm intrigued. Also thought it was interesting that in the 'Special Thanks' during the credits, it lists Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams but not Heather Donahue, despite her being the only original character actually mentioned. After doing some digging, turns out this was at her request - “The company that originally bought ‘The Blair Witch Project’ was purchased by Lionsgate and they’re the ones behind this new sequel,” she wrote. “They asked what they could do to show me how much they appreciated my work in the original. They made sure my last name wasn’t used anywhere. In their press materials, their protagonist goes in search of his ‘sister’ but they don’t use my name. For all the talk of Hollywood being populated with jerks and sharks, these guys were actually being considerate and were genuinely concerned that this would not be any more disruptive to my life than was inevitable.”From this article by Indiewire.

I don't remember seeing this in the movie. Deleted scene? Come to think of it, those trees don't even look like the woods in the movie. The movie woods was the wrong sort of trees. And too green and dense. Why'd they shoot in Canada anyway? Would shooting in Maryland have given away the surprise?

Yeah i've been tweeting w/ Simon all weekend my guesses for the map and even i haven't come close. The big part of this film for me was that Simon and Adam were very active on Twitter & FB with fans. Simon was in and out of the FB groups today and always seemed to welcome the interactions. Its not too often that happens.
Sure the film has flaws, maybe more than it should but again, I had fun at the movies which was the point.

Speaking of Simon, he had an interesting reply to the subject of whether we actually saw the Blair Witch in the movie: Make of that what you will. It's possible that wasn't Elly Kedward.

I don't believe going that route would be a bad thing. It makes for a very interesting tale.

Simon's response to that just shows me that they wanted to do good and didn't just slap it together. Regardless of the finished product, there was a lot of thought put into it. Thats just my take on that
