After #1, people probably watch them simply for comedic value.

Twenty year old VHS tapes would not be in WIDESCREEN or be that clear. They would look horrible. If they played at all. And showing the demon? Terrible idea.

If it looked as bad as it was suppose to, people would probably complain.

Well it has 20% on Rotten Tomatoes. So it's exactly what I expected. A crapfest. Apparently pushing the release date back two years didn't help. At least there won't be any more sequels. They can stop beating that dead horse now. Then again, what would you expect on a film with five writers and a first time director? Blah

Admit it, you liked that series.
And I disagree. Quality of a VHS tape depends on how often the tape was watched. If it was set aside and hardly ever watched for 20 years it would look just as good as the day it was first manufactured.

I like the first one. 2 and 3 weren't as good but still watchable. The next two sucked ass. Make that THREE as the early reviews say this last one stinks too. Will I eventually watch it? Probably. For free. I won't reward such garbage as this with my dollars.
I have old VHS tapes that have been sitting in a box for 10+ years. Played one the other day and it looked awful. Magnetic tapes degrade even if not used. And even when new they weren't close to HD quality.

Sure it degraded? Could just be 18 years of being used to watching DVD + 9 years of being used to watching Blu.
Also, were they constantly stored in a damp-free environment?

The other possibility is that my BRAIN has degraded and that it looks exactly the same. Equally possible. They were stored away from humidity and sunlight. Unlike my brain...

I highly doubt your hypothetical, theoretical, transcendental idea.

Down to 14 percent now on RT. I can smell the stench from here. You'd think they'd put a bit more effort into a series finale. Maybe bring back the director of the first one to finish it out. But NOOOOOOOOOOO

13 percent now. The ratings keep dropping. They say it will be on VOD in three weeks. Then the pirates will get it and it will be all over the internet for free. Think I'll just wait for that.

And the worst fact about this floating chunk of a film? NO KATIE FEATHERSTON IN THIS MOVIE. Who thought this was a good idea? Anyone else having trouble with the spoiler button not working? I have to type in the tags manually to get it to show up.

There's a button on the Reply screen for spoiler text but it doesn't seem to work. Not correctly anyway.

Could never find it. Seriously, and I've tried every button. Care to describe it? Then put your reading glasses on. It's the last button on the right. Beside the smiley button. The hover text says Insert Spoiler.

No, it just shows social media URL link stuff. Maybe it doesn't show up on the mobile version of the site, which I don't see. You put the word spoiler inside these [ ] at the beginning and /spoiler inside these [ ] at the end of what you want to hide. The button is supposed to do it for you (add the tags) but it doesn't seem to work.

I used to do that HTML stuff too. A [ here and a / there with a ] at the end. Nope, no spoiler button via mobile access. And I'm even in "desktop view" here.

Well I've seen it now. Don't read the spoiler if you don't want to know. I warned ya. Short answer is, I hate it. I explain why in the spoilers. This is basically a sequel to PA3. It ignores the last two movies almost entirely. New characters, new house, same tired plot. Lame jump scares, idiots running around in the dark, and characters with zero intelligence. I wanted them all to die 15 minutes in. New in this one is an "exorcism" (which naturally goes awry) and a CG demon that looks like the symbiote from Spiderman 3. Showing the "activity" just made it suck more. The camera that can see the "Ghost Dimension"? Looks like something from the Ghostbusters yard sale. And the ending? WEAK SAUCE. They ripped off Marked Ones by having a portal take characters to the house in PA3 back in 1988. Toby becomes human (his goal in the entire series supposedly), kills the last remaining adult, and walks away with the lone survivor (the creepy kid from this movie). WHA?! That's it? Where are all those answers? What about the witch army? Where's adult Katie? That weirdo kid Robbie from PA4? So there was no point to any of that? So if Toby is human in 1988, does that mean that the first movie's events never happened? Did they just STAR TREK us? Changing a past event deletes everything we've seen to this point? We're in a new timeline ala Back To The Future? GREAT SCOTT!!!!!
Now there's a paradox. This movie takes place in 2013. If Toby is not in demon form in 2013 then he has no reason to go back in time to become human. Which means this movie didn't happen either. Meaning he didn't become human. So this movie did happen. Argh. I feel like the exploding head guy in Scanners.
Oh I have even more complaints. Who the heck is "ponytail" guy? I thought the witch cult was all women? Never explained. We (the audience) are watching found footage of a character watching... found footage from a previous movie made from... found footage. A particular scene reminds me of a gag in Spaceballs when they play a tape of the movie they're in and see themselves on the monitor... watching a tape of the movie they're in. Mel Brooks should sue.
