Kinda. Just so long as it doesn't end like The Village.

Looks like it might be pretty good.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 88%, based on 16 reviews, with an average rating of 7.2/10. Variety commented "A fiercely committed ensemble and an exquisite sense of historical detail conspire to cast a highly atmospheric spell in “The VVitch,” a strikingly achieved tale of a mid-17th-century New England family’s steady descent into religious hysteria and madness"

I find goats creepy. Anyone else? Maybe it's the Baphomet thing.

Beelzebub has hooves and goat horns. And goats will chase you up a tree. Evil little beasts.

Saw this yesterday. Pretty damn good. Probably as close to that Blair prequel as we're likely to see. The film looks great. As a period piece they nailed it. Some of the dialogue was a little hard for me to follow at times. I'm assuming that was accurate 1600s New England speech. Not a scary movie per se, but creepy in places. It's different for sure. Not the usual Hollywood tits and gore horror junk. A slow paced film. No jump scares that I recall. Recommended! Hey look! The goat has his own Twitter account! twitter.com/blackphillip

The soundtrack isn't bad either. Nice and creepy. You can find it on YouTube if you want to listen.

I absolutely loved this movie. Wonderful detail to the setting. It's up there with The Exorcist and The Shining for me.

Lots of hate out there for this movie. But I liked it. Will be picking up the blu-ray in a couple of days.

I just watched it today and thought it was a really good movie. Especially for a newer film (I am mostly into horror movies from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s). I've seen lots of complaints about it being "too slow" but since I watch a lot of older horror I'm used to films paced like this so it didn't bother me. Black Phillip is a horror icon in the making and the film is worth seeing for him alone.

This was an awesome movie that captured the atmosphere of Blair in a prequel-esque capacity. Well made film, just some really boring dialogue

I was psyched for this movie, for the exact reasons mentioned before. Seemed like something an Elly Kedward movie could look like. I found it quite dull though, unfortunately. It starts with a bang, doesn't it? (Witch and baby scene). But that whole black Phillip narrative didn't work out for me. I loved the ambience, the soundtrack was great. But I found the story to be lacking.

LOVE this movie. The atmosphere, sound, and setting really create the horror just like the Shining and Blair Witch. A slow burning movie like this is refreshing when I grew up on mostly lather rinse repeat slashers. Hell, with nothing on today on being stuck inside with Minnesota winter outside I'll have to watch this for the 100th time.
