The fates of the three surviving characters are unknown at the end of the film. We get a clue about Jeff's future, but nothing on Kim or Steven.

What was the clue about Jeff's future again? I think they all went to prison for many years, then eventually each committed suicide. The End

Kim has a vision of Jeff getting zapped in the electric chair. After she gets back from the store (where she deals with Peggy!).

You barely see or hear much of Cravens in my cut. Only enough to know that the local law has forever been riding Jeff's ass. I could never stand his character.

Someone just recently voted for 'No'. We now have one 'No' vote. *glares at person responsible for disturbing the peace* You know who you are...

Last night I hit "no" because I honestly don't want to know what happened to them. Because I already have a very good idea of what happened to them. The three went to prison and Jeff "may have been" eventually executed.

The three went to prison and Jeff "may have been" eventually executed. Understandable, I suppose. Much like you, I'm content with my own ending, and there is no way anything would ever feel 'official' now, but I am always curious to see what others may come up with.

Honestly not all that different from yours. There really isn't any way to argue that they were all screwed with how the end played out, and Kim and Stephen were going to spend multiple life sentences in prison. Maybe even being finished off by the death penalty (it was not abolished in Maryland until 2013). Jeff, however, I believe would be institutionalized for the rest of his life. I know that Kim supposedly saw a vision of him frying in an electric chair (but that was archaic even by 1999/2000 for Maryland) and Rustin Parr was hanged, so it couldn't have been a vision of his death, but I just can't make myself believe she was seeing Jeff's death in any way. Furthermore, he already had a history of having mental instability and being institutionalized for years. The most practical end for him would be going back to the 'loony bin' for life.

I would concur, except I believe the system would see Jeff as the ringleader and if anyone were going to be executed first, it would be him. Not by Old Sparky, but by lethal injection, or whatever Maryland did back then. But then again they could have kept him in prison beyond 2013, so he could still be alive.

By the way, the crazy boy was the very last one to actually crack. Before Jeff cracked, all he did was watch everyone else cracking first.
There is strength in insanity.

Thank you, I think this is now my favorite saying. But you are right, and that is something I had not put a lot of thought into before.

I was so tipsy when I wrote that!
But when I read it back the next morning it still made sense to me!
Because here's the funny thing, my sweet Lily Mae .. When someone's cheese has slipped off their cracker they're actually less susceptible to outside influences. This is real. This is true. This is everyday life. And I think that's what I was thinking when I was drunk that night
