Penny DreadfulSome of literature's most terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula are lurking in the darkest corners of Victorian London. Penny Dreadful is a frightening psychological thriller that weaves together these classic horror origin stories into a new adult drama.Anyone else watching this show? I don't have Showtime (or cable tv for that matter) so I'm having to watch them elsewhere. Seen five episodes so far. I've been watching Fargo too. Any other fans out there?

Season one is finished. Not bad. There will be a season two.
This show's got vampires, Dr. Frankenstein and his monster(s), and the Wolf Man. All in the same show. Plus Eva Green, who's quite lovely. What's not to like?

Season two has started. I don't have Showtime so it's a while before I get to see new episodes. I hope they do more with the wolfman character this season. Looks like we've got witches this season too. Sweet!

I've watched episode 1 and it's not bad. The visuals are quite beautiful. There was a movie of no relation ..

Watched all episodes.
Can be really slow at times, but not a bad show. Not great either.
Miss Ives communed with Elly.

S02E05 is out! "Above the Vaulted Sky" I didn't care much for this episode. Too much screwing and not enough cool stuff. The doll thing was pretty neat.

I know. EVERYONE GOT SOME. well, almost everyone. And must we be subjected to gratuitous gay butt-s** ? I lost all respect for Ethan in that one episode..

The whole Dorian Gray plotline has me puzzled. Not sure where they are going with it. Or why. Seems pointless to me. Maybe it's for shock value?

I agree. Dorian was a penny dreadful character in real life so he MUST be included in the show!! And with his giant painting collection, where's HIS painting?

There was an episode in the first season where he goes to a secret room and sits in front of a large painting. I suspect that is the magic one. We don't get to see what it looks like though. The camera is on Dorian as he stares at it.

I'm rewatching season one this week. There are two episodes with the painting. The second one is the one where he shags Miss Ives. He stands in front of the painting after she runs out and his scratches heal instantly. Hope we get to see what's on the painting before the series ends. It would be really cruel to the loyal viewers if they don't give us that at some point.
I hope each main character gets their own backstory episode.

This week's episode was pretty good! Glorious Horrors! I enjoyed the blood rain thing. Too bad it wasn't real.
These last four episodes are going to be good. This second season is better than the first. The show is really hitting it's stride now.

It's actually starting to bug me a bit. Miss Ives needs to get naughty again. Well to be fair the last time she got busy she spent the whole next episode possessed. We got some nice wolfman action this episode. Sucks to be a sheep on the moors right now. MUNCH! I suspect Ms Ives will get more interesting now that she's been reading from the Necronomicon (or whatever it's called). Give those Nightcomers a taste of some REAL dark magic I say! Time to open up a can of supernatural whoop-ass!
