This is what I want the real Blair 3 to be, a period piece. But I doubt Lionsgate would ever fund it. The idea would probably seem to be too old fashioned to them, too much like the old Hammer films.
I don't care for the bit about Rustin onward. I'd like 3 to purely be about the life of Elly. Birth to death and bits about her future hauntings.
Some of the dialogue in the part about Elly seemed too present minded, I found it hard to picture a colonial era setting. One of Elly's first lines being "I'm the witch" made me cringe a bit. And the cliche bit about John wanting to be carpenter and the horse's legs falling off made me cringe too.
The script says that Elly was hanged from a tree, when the mythology says she was tied to a tree and abandoned in the woods.
I didn't like the allusions to BW2, I'd want that movie forgotten completely. That movie breaks the established time frame in the mythology while claiming the myth is real while simultaneously claiming it was just a story made for a movie.
Events passed Rustin broke the time frame even further.
The part with the cop from New York digging near Coffin Rock and it filling with water seemed to hold no consequence on the overall story other than she lost the radio. And the mention of zombies nearly made my eyes roll right out of my head.
The lack of mention of The Blair Witch Cult was a shame.
I like the bit about Elly, but I think it should be fleshed out. The BWC, Eileen Treacle, Robin Weaver, Rustin Parr and Heather, Mike and Josh should be alluded to in some way during the epilogue, perhaps with the latest case having some new, resolving bits and pieces as to exactly what happened. And the time frame should be explained. I have ideas for these, but not the writing talent.
