I know i mentioned these 2 movies before. What do yall think of "Cloverfield" and "Quarantine"? Do you think they measure up to TBWP?. I thought "Cloverfield" was too..."over the top"..like it was "forced" or something, can't explain it. But "Quarantine" was a lot closer to the "Blair Witch" tradition (aside from the speciel effects and all.) I don't know if i would compare Jennifer Carpenter (Angela Vidal [they didnt use thier real names in this one]) to Heather Donahue as "who is the best documentery style horror scream queen". Do yall think more horror should be like this. I think it would get more scares out of the audience but on a whole new level than regular horror. there are some good sides to documntery style horror (or DSH, which i'm gonna shorten it to) and the bad sides. But i think the bad sides kinda wore off over time. When TBWP first came out, i can only imagine the contriversy the movie probely had for looking too much like a snuff. But i think as that part of the hype wore down, it became thought of as a reguler horror film, even though it was a DSH.

Paranormal Activity was pretty good. But nothing has come close to BWP yet.

I personally loved PA. I think it has some good parts and has added something new to the genre. My favourite part is when the demon pulls out Katie from the bed and drags her to the atic! God that is what i call disturbing.
I think BW can still use the first person camera style. It just need something shocking.
Diary of the dead, and Cloverfield were a let down.

I saw Trollhunter recently. It's not bad if you can get past the fact it has TROLLS in it.

Atrocious wasn't too bad. The ending could have been done better. But that's the case with most modern horror films. Rarely do they ever have a good ending.

BWP, PA, Grave Encounters, Rec, Alien Abduction and The Tunnel are my personal favourites. Of course, no FF film has ever came close to Blair Witch ;D

Noroi - The Curse has to be up there with TBWP in the best found footage movies. Even though it's in Japanese, please check it out. Very creepy and intriguing backstory.
Very hard to purchase as it hasn't had a US/UK and sadly, doesn't look like it ever will.
But here's the full movie on Youtube with English Subs!

Watched both Evil Things and Evidence last night.
Evil Things had some great Character Development, which is quite rare in found footage type horror, and it also had a few creepy scenes, but left far too much upto the audiences imagination by the end of the film as no questions were answered. It had a god awful soundtrack and far too much screaming for my liking, but nevertheless, it was enjoyable. 5/10
Evidence was pretty good, it was your average group of teens go camping and get stalked by this mysterious bigfoot type character, but there's a massive twist in the second half that really did make this movie unique. There was pretty much none stop action for about the last 30 minutes, which gave us some 'Rec' type shooting scenes. Worth a buy, so give it a watch! One of the better found footage films. 7/10

For those seeking Paranormal horror in the vein of BWP watch Grave Encounters on Netflix. Don't read up on it just go an watch it. As for me my personal all time favorite hand held film EVER is Cloverfield. I was WAYYYY to young to see BWP when it came out so CF was my BWP.

Just a heads up that Grave Encounters was released on DVD and Blu-Ray last Monday and can be found in all good online retailers for quite a reasonable price, so if you can, support these guys! Thy deserve all they can get as it was such a great film! Also, The Vicious Brothers (The Directors of GE1) have also confirmed on Twitter that early work has started on Grave Encounters 2 and it'll be shot this year with a 2013 release, so it looks like we wont have to wait that long for a sequel! BW3 take note.
