When Heather runs down in the basement and sees Mike standing in the corner... Was it actually Neal running the camera at that point when the movie ends? I was looking through the reshoot photos on the Making of TBWP & it says, "Dan leads Neal through Heather's shot" and has a pic of them running by Mike hanging in a noose.

I know the reshoot video wasnt used so is the real ending actually him or was it really Heather running down stairs?

That's a really good question and I always assumed it was Heather. I know that the cast shot almost all of the footage except for a few scenes but now that you bring that point up maybe it wasn't Heather who shot the original footage at the ending. Seeing from the photo you mentioned Heather most likely didn't shoot the original ending but she may have shot the ending that they used.

The picture might also be from a run-through before they started filming to make sure the scene would work. With lighting and everything being a factor.

It is a really good question because Im the Master Question Asker... Id bet someone here knows for sure but maybe not everyone sees it cause its not in the main zone which when I think about it is maybe where I should have originally put it.

Well I just went to the site and looked at the pictures and in the reshoots Heather didn't seem to be there. It seems only Mike was so I don't think Heather shot anything for the reshoot. It said that they kept the ending they filmed in 98 so what you see in the movie is actually what Heather shot. From that evidence I think it's 100% certain that the ending we see in the movie was all shot by Heather and the various reshoot endings that were never used were shot by Neal Fredericks.

It seems to me that Mike and Josh were all in on it, but Heather was kept in the dark. Basically, the whole movie was a practical joke on Heather. Mike knew that he was to go into the basement, claiming to hear Josh down there, and get into position. Heather followed him down there, but we don't see what she filmed at this time. What we see is the footage that Neal shot of Mike in the corner, edited into the audio of Heather screaming.

If I remember in audio commentary they said they played josh screaming from recorded boomboxes and echoed to give it that creepy feel that he sounded close. They said once they got mike down there they pulled him and told him to go stand in the corner and once heather got down there they recorded her screams and pulled her so she would drop the camera that shot I know once she got down there that was part of the orignal movie shot. The new shot might have been her going down stairs or if it was Neal at all. its not really clear Mike and Ed said they did not really get all their facts with who shot what in the end but they only remember a few shots that were recorded by whom who shot them. Its pretty mixed information. I may be wrong they all pretty much talked to each other all at the same time which made it difficult to know who was saying what. So any guess is good.
But I know they stuck with Heathers orignal shot.

HAHA... How great would it have been if Mike was eating Doritos when he was standing in the corner? LOL JK that would have totally not fit with where the movie was going.
