in the beginning of the second movie it says something like "these events are true but names have been changed to protect certain people" or some jibber jabber like that and im just wondering if that did actaully happen or they jus made it up so it would be as scary as the 1st one?

The Blair witch is nothing a story used to scare kids and keep them home before it got dark. from what I remember there was a murder taken place near black hills *which had nothing to do with the blair witch * but the killer was never found and they blamed the murder on the myth I did a report on Berk's history while I was in 10th Grade...Only by this one murder did rumors sprout about the "Blair Witch" and then along came 2 guys who tryed the turn false into Truth, almost made everyone believe too.

As director/writer Joe Berlinger says in the commentary, the opening title card you refer to was a request from Artisan to make it less ambiguous and more like the first film.

Perhaps BW2 is fiction, but SOME of the myth of Blair Witch (Burkittsville etc) are based on fact.
