I've managed to avoid spoilers so far but it's really tough. A few non spoiler reviews said its best not to watch the trailer but there was no way I couldn't watch the trailer for a new Blair witch film

I'm hoping the trailer didn't give away too much. But I'm not seeking out any more than that. Non-spoiler reviews only for me. I want to be surprised.

When there's a movie I want to see, if I do watch the trailer, it's when it first comes out, and then only that one time. So by the time I go see the movie, I've forgotten most of the trailer.

That's a good idea.
I'll be attempting to avoid any other trailers for this one until the film is released.

I've read some spoilers. I couldn't resist it. Now I have mixed feelings.

oh man words cannot say how THRILLED I am at this news. I haven't been this psyched for a movie since 10 Cloverfield Lane, cos this film is like my "Star Wars The Force Awakens"! And I'm like so glad this happened it finally happened WOOHOO! Hi, I'm Kristine. I was here some time ago, but lost my info, and thus needed to re-register. I wrote a fan fic for this move and its called the "X Witch Project" and now, cos of this SUPER news, it inspired me to get back to my sequel which I've been working on for... months... So glad to be here and rejoice with all the fans!

Wonder if the new film will be filled with that lovely expletive so bountiful in the first one? You know the one I mean. Wouldn't be right if it didn't Earn that R rating! I expect industrial-strength profanity. And creative curses too. Don't get lazy on us Wingard!

I expect industrial-strength profanity. And creative curses too. Don't get lazy on us Wingard! It's pot smoking murder fodder with go pros. Of course it will have that word in it. Probably every other word. "Oh F%^& it's the witch!" "F&*(! Run y'all! Run!" "It's F&%$ing following us!" "Yo, just take them white F%^&s! Ain't nobody like the dark meat!" That's pretty much how I see it going.

But there's six young people in this movie and in the trailer none of them seem like brain dead pot smokers.
James seems up and up. Lisa the photographer seems like a good girl.
Then there's the other dude. Don't see much of him at all in the trailer so he could be a pot smoker.
The purple haired girl seems kind of innocent.
The black dude seems level headed. And the black girl just seems mistrustful of others.
Yes, I gathered all of this insight from the two minute trailer.

I've avoided spoilers like the plague. I'm scared about the release worldwide because I dunno if it'll get a big theatrical release over this side of the pond. Any word on that?

Think we'll see the witch in this one? I think we'll see... something. Not a full on in-focus closeup of her face. But a glimpse.

You know, a cool way for Lionsgate to promote the movie would be to have stickmen start appearing in the backgrounds of random photos posted online. The way Slenderman sometimes shows up. Someone takes a selfie, and in the background, a creepy stick figure! I'd enjoy that.
You could make small ones and hang them from trees around your neighborhood. Just to see if anyone notices.

in my minds eye i saw her as grayson hall. at least in her "human" form. she was an actress on "dark shadows" from the 60's.

Hmm I don't know..sounded promising until I found out that Haxan has nothing to do with it. Lionsgate seems only interested about making some money by exploiting an established brand. The people behind VHS and You're Next must have made a lot of $ for LG so they gave them the go for Blair Witch. I guess that Ed and Dan was rejected because they have "only" made a ton of money ones (I think they have done some good movies since BWP, especially Ed, but the studio only see money NOT talent).
The are rebooting this the same way they did Texas Chainsaw, making it a semi-sequal which actually is a remake, something for the kids today. Just take the name..it is not bw3, or something similar..it is Blair Witch just like Texas Chainsaw. They will have sequels planned so if this makes money we are going to get them. I'm getting so tired, why can't they come up with something new, I think what Ed and Dan had planned something new, something fresh, a reason to care.
This movie might be just as bad as the new Star Wars movie. Did you think it was amazing? Is this the future of cinema? Making some crap, putting a well known label on it and hoping the public will swallow it all. At least the latest Mad Max movie was good...okay I take that back..It was AWESOME!
The trailer looks pretty bad, nothing special about it. Pretty teens of all colors (just to make sure everyone is pleased) go out into woods, jumpscare etc. ending the movie (I'm guessing) in the same house as before, only now its different. i.e. not as good.
The first movie was filmed beautifully on Hi8 and 16mm b&w giving the movie a soul. The cast looked like normal people and they could act really well. It was movie-realism taken to the next level and no Found Footage movie have since come close (all though I found Exists entertaining, but it wasn't taking itself 100% serious). The Mythology surrounding the movie was just as good, and that might be the main reason why I don't hate the sequel Book of Shadows. The characters in that movie was just as nerdy as I was/am. I also liked that even though it looked nothing liked the first film it followed some of it themes; the members of the group turning on each other, you never see the witch. It included the mythology and treated it as being real, it was another way of turning the world of the Black Hills into reality. Just like the added "documentaries" all the denying of Elly just made her all the more real.
I see the Blair Witch movies as cult movies and I'm scarred that this movie is going to play 100% for the new audience today, and that means safe. No one will care +10 years from now (just like bw2 which I find good...which might make me seem like and idiot but I hope you understand what I mean)..This is trying to be a real sequel to the first one and not a meta-sequel like bw2 was so I expect some quality...which I'm sure we won't get.
In the trailer it had some good reviews quoted so I will hope for the best only there is no hype. Not for me anyway..Over and out.
