If Heather and Mike decided to ignore Josh's cries of pain and chose not to go into the house, do you think they still would have died (assuming they are dead)? What do you think would have happened if they didn't go in the house? What creative move do you think Elly would have tried out in that case? I think that entering the house is the worst decision either of them could have possibly made.

I think they all were doomed anyway. Josh was the first to break down mentally. Elly possessed Josh and caused him to leave the tent and vanish. Had they not gone in the house, the remaining two would have been separated. I'd say Mike would be next to vanish, leaving Heather alone. Then when she was at her weakest, she would get it.

I think Tweek hit the nail on the head. Elly was able to get Josh, it would only have been a matter of time before she got to Mike and Heather.
