It's September 18th and I’m in Eichstetten, Germany. I have been in the vineyards here picking grapes for 4 days. My back aches, my fingers are purple. I’ve fallen in my bed exhausted at the end of every night now since I started this adventure and I have been up and in the winery by 7:00am, to get back in the van, head out to the vineyards and start again. I’ve been listening to several languages spoken in the vineyard and sometimes I listen to the silence and the snip, snipping of the workers cutting the grapes around me. We clear many rows a day and I also clear my head. It has been quite an all encompassing but fulfilling year finishing the first album of the new trilogy. I am grateful for this time where I can let it all go and just work with my hands instead of my mind.
Today I am filled with anticipation and excitement. I want to bring those of you who would join me, on a journey, a journey through a story that raises questions and makes people think.
Today is the day I invite you to come with me. Start with, “The Key”, tell me what you think and help answer the questions and solve the mystery. I will be waiting for your answers. For now…it’s back to the grapes.
I think I've figured out the story so far in Part One: The Key.
A man somehow accidentally creates a program that has the potential of changing the world as we know it (the songwriter has confirmed there are four characters in the story altogether) This man struggles with what to do with it, whether to give it away to the world for the betterment of mankind or to simply profit from it himself.
He ultimately decides to give it away to the world, but before doing so he makes the mistake of informing two friends of his creation. Friend #2 plants the idea of killing the inventor to gain control of the program for themselves to friend #1, but friend #1 does not want to put his life on the line for having someone murdered. Plus, he just doesn't want to murder his inventor friend to begin with. But the idea of gaining the power was somewhat tempting to him in the beginning.
So the murder inclined friend #2 hires an assassin to take out the inventor, but somehow the assassination attempt fails with the inventor vowing to get to the bottom of who tried to have him killed.
So the inventor passes the encrypted program to his loyal friend #1 with instructions of when and what to do with it, but his loyal friend is horrified at the responsibility and feels it will bring great danger to him.
As far as the ending goes ~ as far as I can tell anyway ~ the loyal friend #1 ends up murdered shortly after gaining the encrypted program -- possibly by the unloyal friend #2 -- and his body is buried where the killer, and possibly his accomplice, believe it will never be found.
The inventor mourns this turn of events, feeling that people will always take a potentially positive thing and turn it into something negative.. and so ends Part One.
Part Two is out September 2016 with Part Three following in September 2017.
