I never played the game, but this looks like a popcrn movie (excuse to eat popcorn). Like the Amityville Horror (2005)

I think it's got a good chance, I heard some pretty good talk about it. Better than for "The Death Tunnel" at least.

Why the hell was the role of the father changed to the mother in this? I hate it when they do that.

I have been looking forward to this for quite some time now.
I am a huge fan of the games and the movie has actually borrowed elements/characters from several of the chapters. It actually reminds me a lot of Silent Hill 2 and 3 just based on the trailers and photos I have seen. It even has a feel of "The Room" as well.
I am completely stoked that Pyramid Head will be in this. He was by far one of the creepiest characters in any of the games IMO. The imagery is going to be great in this movie and I think it will really pull off the atmosphere that the games presented, or at least I am hopeful!

I'm tired of staring male roles(Protagonists) in Horror pieces being changed to females unless it is the killer/evil person. It seems so popular now to change action heroes to women in action movies: I'm tired of it being that if you are a male in a horror movie you get killed unelss you happen to be the surviving girls dipsh*t boyfriend or some side character.

i was looking forward to this until i saw the trailor - blue screen and green screen, CGI, lots of long shots and aerial views of nothing much - the fact the trailor shows loads of other people in the town ruins the scary isolation I wanted. i will still see it, but do not expect much. Which is better than being let down i guess - there is the opportunity for me to be pleasantly surprised!

The game isn't all that graphic. It's mostly atmosphere and creepy sounds. If they can get that on film then I'll be happy with it.

I saw this tonight. This is one crazy ass movie. I enjoyed all the game references I found. Fans of the game will dig it. The finale is something to behold. Enough gore (and barbed wire) to give Hellraiser a run for its money! I'm already adding this to my Netflix queue. I need to see it again There was a power outage at the theater during the early part of the movie. Lasted about 10 minutes. I don't think I missed any important parts of the film. But it was a weird thing to happen while watching a horror film. Just thought I'd mention it In short, this movie rocked. Finally a new horror film that isn't a remake or a cliched teen slasher. You haven't seen THIS before, I bet ;D The critics HATE this movie. All the more reason I hope it makes big money at the box office

seen it - it sucks! the CGI was great and well deployed, but there was no atmosphere, and it was about 2 hours 30 long! about 45 mins less and it would have been easier to stomach - not enough plot to keep it at the length it was

It sucks?! Did we see the same movie? I read that they cut over an hour from this film for the theatrical release. So I guess the director's cut will be even longer

As a fan of the game series, I have to say I enjoyed how they put it into a movie. I thought it was well done. Although, I think pyramid head should have had more "screen time". He needed to pose as a greater threat. And also maybe shift a few things around. Add a few more gore scenes, and disturbing parts as well. THEN it would have been perfect. Mostly, it just needed a complete story. I feel they could have elaborated a bit more on the past story. But that's just me. I love stories. Anyway, great movie. I'm buying it.

i have never played the game either but it made me want to. The first time i watched this movie i didn't really understand it. but the second time i got it. It's much better when you know what's going on.

It makes more sense if you've played the first two games. The film takes elements from both games.
