Anyone have any thoughts on the French press method? Is it worth the extra trouble and time to do?

That's a good question. I personally don't know. I know my brother used to, I'll ask him for you.

Yes. It's excellent, once you get the hang of it.

Yes. It's excellent, once you get the hang of it. I foresee a lot of wasted coffee until I produce something drinkable. The coffee/water ratio has to be just so, the grind has to be correct, and the water temp, and the brewing time. A bunch of things to go wrong. One shouldn't have to do Algebra to make a pot of coffee. If the result isn't fantastic I may just stick with my old Mr Coffee drip machine. It has served me well these many years. The reward should justify the effort.

I've abandoned this idea. Sticking with the tried-and-true.

If I'm planning on having a couple of cups then the press is brilliant. If I'm in a rush and only have time for one cup I use an aeropress. At work or hiking/camping I go super simple and use coffee bags.
I also have a huge perculator for the hob and an electric one.
Yeah, I like coffee:-)

I haven't seen a percolator used in years. My great-grandmother had one. They still sell those? I remember her coffee always having grounds in it. Didn't care for that part. It was fun to watch it brew though.
Back to the press question... you buy ground coffee or grind whole beans yourself?
