I've watched the entire walkthrough video plus all the endings, so I can discuss it even though I haven't played. Reminder! Use spoiler tags if posting any specifics about the new game. Be nice to those who haven't played yet

So what do you think about the flashback segments? I didn't care for them. What has that to do with BW?

I didn't enjoy that either. Then again, I didn't actually enjoy the game.

I saw no references to the first film. Point them out if there were. Plenty of them from BW16 - an inferior film in my opinion. The "monsters" are silly looking. The main character's story didn't interest me that much. The controls seemed weird too.
I'll still play it if I can get it to run. But only because I bought it.

It just didn't feel Blair Witch to me. It felt like a random game with some random places that were connected to the story. It could have been something special, but they missed that one. I even had issues with the phone having that good of reception in the middle of the woods, considering it was 1996. But that is nitpicking.

The BW link feels like pure marketing only. No real connection that I see other than a few visuals. Bet this game was already in development and Bloober tied it to BW to sell more copies. Smells like something Artisan would do.

It wasn't scary (in my opinion) and was a bit on the boring side. Man, I was excited when I saw the trailer a few months back, but I wasn't going to get my hopes up for it. Definitely glad I didn't. Aside from some of the earlier things, I didn't like how the ending went down and it was predictable. At least the old PC games actually felt connected to the mythology in a way.

There is no "good" ending to this game. But did we really expect one? There are only two endings. The others are slight variations of those. Ellis is screwed either way. Not leaving the woods no matter how the game is played.

Windows 8.1 64-bit, 8 GB ram, Intel Celeron dual core 2.70 Ghz processor, Intel HD Integrated Graphics (unsure how much memory it has). I'm guessing that last one is the bottleneck. This is NOT a gaming machine. Didn't buy it for that purpose. But I thought if I turned off some of the bells and whistles this game might somehow run. Silly me. Damn, son. Geforce 1060Ti! Plays everything I throw at it. For now. Wish I could help.

I liked it as it's own thing, not so much a blair witch game. The last chapter really dragged on and got boring.

"So... this is how it ends. Without ever starting." I've read a theory that Ellis and Carver are the same person. Thoughts?

Ellis is given a GUN during the game and he THROWS IT AWAY?! Huh?

I'm able to play now. Xbox version. Currently flailing about the digital woods. Progress is slow.
Pretty sure I'll get the bad ending this first game. I'm ghosting Jess and ignoring Bullet except when I need him.

Still haven't finished yet. Dying a lot. Getting lost even more. Having fun with it anyway.

Made it to the sawmill after many attempts. The "leaf monsters" are annoying! They're fast and there's always more than one. Right where I'm trying to go. Found a rock pile. Kicked it over, of course. Learned that the creatures don't like it when I start up the generators. Not at all. Gave up trying to sneak past them in the dark.

The game has its moments. I rewatched BW16 this weekend and it's clear that's what the game is based on. I would prefer more "original" BW references. But it is what it is. Still a cool game. At least they didn't base it on BoS. That would have been horrible.

"Oh shit. It's a house..."
Made it to the house. The BW16 house. Just about to go in. The first room you enter is identical to the one in the movie. Thought I'd never get out of that fog section. Sneaking past the baddies is not my specialty. I lost sight of the "trail" I was supposed to follow and ended up surrounded by 4 of them. Trying to walk between got me dead. Had to go back to an earlier save point and try again. And again. Finally got through. Blind luck.
The "Voice" seems to like how I'm playing. Probably not a good thing. Bullet is gone at this point. Seems you have to leave him behind to go forward.
Back to the game...

"I'm finally finished..."
Tweek gave in to his rage. A new Carver is born.
Yeah. Sure did. I killed Lanning. And Sawmill Guy. And Carver. Bullet survived. Never did find the missing kid though. Wasn't that the whole point of going out there? Never even saw him except on the tapes. Peter's fate remains unknown.
Going to play again. Maybe I can save the kid this time. Won't destroy the idols or the totems. Be nicer to Bullet. Try to patch things up with Jess. Try for that Good Ending. Though the one I got was pretty sweet. My Ellis is a baaaad man. Earned what he got.
