OK. This weekend I'm stuck doing the three things I hate most. Driving to Wisconsin, visiting in-laws, and helping people move in to a new house. Plus, my mother-in-law really frowns on drinking. How can I possibly survive this weekend? Do I fake illness or sneak some "special" brownies? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Tell them you're an adult and to mind their own business.

Ha! Thanks for the ideas guys. I'll just drink my Whiskey sours and ignore the dirty looks shot my way from Mommy in Law. After I get drunk, belligerent, and eventually divorced I'll have more time to chat here

Advice? Do what you want. The in-laws will find something about you to hate no matter what. Why worry about it?

The inlaws aren't always going to feel easy to be around or feel like a frend. My last girlfriend and her parents can be used as a example. In the beginning before we were a couple the in laws liked me and we had good convos and everything was fine and there was no drama at all, zilch. Zero. After we were a couple.... Holy shoot, complete 180, the didn't like me, I wasn't having good convos with them, they were saying mean things, there was fights, bad looks, uncomfortable akward dinners and there was five pounds of drama in a two pound bag. holy shoot. The best advice I got is to try and stay calm, keep breathing deep slow breaths and keep reminding your self no one's perfect and life's not perfect. Telling yourself people are people is a good way to put yourself in a perspective were you can be alittle further away from the intensity of not being able to get along with someone or a group of people and you can say oh well it's no biggy, they are them and I am me and theyre going to keep on being them and I will keep on being me and tomorrow will come no matter what.

That might feel like a good idea and you may dream about it,but don't do it.
