Jiminey freakin' Christmas! I honestly can't tell if you guys are playing around or really starting to throw jabs at each other, but I don't care. I can't believe I had to sign on at work for this.
Anarchist86ed, if you have a problem with my labeling, fine, I can change it. No big deal. But please don't say that you don't care, because it's obvious you do or you wouldn't have posted about it to begin with (this is not in reply to your 'don't care' comment to ghostprints).
As for the defending bit being on me- I have a life, and this isn't a big part of it. If someone really wants to let a non-HD version listed as HD get to them, well, sorry, but there really are bigger, better things to worry about and I don't have the time to wax poetic over something like this.
Edit: at work right now so cannot provide screenshots til later.

You have at best a barely higher than DVD quality digital version. It's still from an SD source. There is a better chance of me winning the PCH sweepstakes than LionsGate ever making an HD version of this movie available. Why Tweek even let's a topic about the movie for download be here anyway is his business. No one's throwing any jabs, we just have nothing better to do on a Sunday obviously.

HD is 1280X720 or above. 1080 is 1920X1080. The DVD of BW2 is 714X472 which is quite a ways away from 720P.

And you bought one too! Tweek went 4K! You're not far off. Almost did this past weekend. Had it in my cart. Changed my mind before I reached the register.

720X400 (click for full size): 1920X1080 (click for full size): So for the love of god, would someone please download the 7gb file and see what it looks like on a 1080p screen larger than 35"? For reference, I watched this on my Vizio D50u-D1 (50" screen, 4K, no HDR . Certainly not near the best out there, but pretty damn good for the price) and it looked great as far as I could tell. Then again, I am no expert and am simply appreciating the version for what it is: the best we can get at the moment.

Yes, I can resize a picture too. It doesn't turn it into HD. That's not how it works.

I said I know they're not DVD, but they're not HD either.
How many times do I have to say you don't get higher quality by resizing an image? You just blow it up, there's no more detail or clarity added. It's a slightly better digital version that was blown up, ridiculously, to an HD size. That's all it is. You can claim it's 1080 quality all you want, but it's just an SD digital version rendered out to a larger size.
Here's the trailer in glorious 480P... AKA standard definition.

Another comparison shot to compliment the ones above. Same scene, but from the 1920X1080 version without Agent Sam's color correction. There is obviously more detail and clarity in the streaming versions, and if you refuse to see that, that's fine, but it doesn't mean it ceases to exist. Look at the gravemarker, look at their faces and clothing. It's right there. Also, in the streaming versions, we seem to get just a little bit more picture at the top and bottom; look at the top of the steeple in the pics above.

When you guys figure out how HD works you let me know. Till then watch your blown up SD digital version and call it 1080P. Enjoy.

7gb does not make it HD either.

My God I don't believe in... You just don't get it. You don't get a digital version is better than a DVD rip. You don't get resizing a picture doesn't increase it's quality to HD. The actual film is far higher quality and was released in SD because there was no HD at the time. In order to get real HD lionsgate will have to go back to the original film and transfer it from it's higher quality that does exist, but they won't because they don't care. Be grateful they gave a higher resolution SD digital version and live with it because that's the best you'll ever get.
Now that's enough. Speak of it no more.

The digital version is of higher quality, as I said, and it's about a step or two below HD. It looks fine on my laptop screen, but so does the DVD. It's obviously still blurry and nowhere near as crisp as it could be. It obviously wouldn't be much hard for them to provide a real HD version. But that's just not gonna happen.
Watch Tremors in HD, a ten year older film and it looks amazing.
Now that's the end of it. It's not HD. It's just a very slightly better than DVD version. I remain sick of watching it.

Me too. But sorry Anarchist ( I really am ) but I still believe the large file has to be at least 720p to look as good as BHH said it does on his modern 50 inch screen. What movie is that from? I've never heard that before... ...is that in the Ghost Edition? Yeah that's pretty funny. Make fun all you want, but I haven't witnessed you devoting any 14 months of your life in an attempt to improve anything that has been universally considered a lost cause and failure. Believe in Santa at the same time.

hahaha! was/is that even possible? Jeff makes it sound cool anyway. No. No it wasn't possible. Couldn't Jeff had used a lower resolution than what the actual footage had just to quickly be able to view the material? Sort of like the preview window in a editing program. Than when he saw something that needed a closer look, he "re-digitizing" the footage meaning that he transferred the footage to his computer - digitizing it, but this time at a higher resolution (same resolution that the source material had). Now he could blow it up for a closer look. What do you think? When it comes to the uploaded Theatrical version I do believe it's a standard definition release rendered at a higher resolution. It might look better but the source material is still the same. Watching DVDs on a HDTV (or 4K TV) should give the same effect.

Let's assume what Jeff said about cute little mini DV's and look at the quality available at the time. Yes, he could blow it up, but with his limited, and frankly primitive equipment, he wasn't gonna be digitizing crap. Those cameras were garbage in dark settings making it even worse. Now, who knows what camera nekkid Erica was on, but it wouldn't have been that much better since regardless all he had was commercial SD technology of the time. I can't believe we're even discussing this. But I'm sure Tweek is happy for the traffic.

Maybe Erica was filmed by the big camera that was later set up on the tripod on the ground? Obviously the "big beta" as in betacam. No way to tell make and model, but it's the betacam. Maybe a Sony since apparently most of the cameras used in the movie were Sony products.

Possibly the Sony DVW-790WSP. This side view is much closer to a match.

The register shows $93.67. What do they sell there that's so expensive?
