Did they really change it to the attic? I saw it, but I remember almost nothing about the movie. I wish I were one of the idiots running for president so I could make remakes/reboots a felony.

Indeed they did. The final scene takes place in the attic. Talia tells the Rustin Parr story while they are walking and says the kids were killed in the attic. WRONG. Sadly, this movie is rather forgettable. Lots of potential.

I do not think the Rustin Parr mythology was changed, maybe a little. The kids bodies were found buried in the basement (B.W.Dossier). You have the hand prints of little kids throughout the house, supposedly blood hand prints, so it would not be so much to think the Blair Witch directed one of the kids (Kyle Brody) to dip their hands in the recently deceased. Whether it was the attic or basement, I think is a detail not given except by second hand accounts of what the folklore is. I know the first film set it up with the basement for the finale and I kind like the idea of a creepy basement.

I don't mind adding to the mythology. Just don't change what is already established.

I found the subplot about Ashley's foot injury to be unneeded. You could leave that out and have the same movie. It served no purpose. It's just filler. Instead they could have spent another day or two in the woods. Seeing more creepy things and hearing more creepy sounds. Building tension. This film seemed very much in a hurry to get right to the supernatural stuff. Very little buildup before the scares.

Not to mention the ridiculous sound editing with her foot making audible cracking and fleshy noises. Absolutely hated that.
