I decided to edit the original fan-edit version which had already straightened out most of the theatrical version's problems.
The fan-edit placed the core story into chronological order while also removing unnecessary moments, but it still left seven minutes of horrible scenes intact.
Theatrical run time 1:30:12 Original fan-edit run time 1:20:40 Re-edit run time 1:12:48
Changes:
No pop culture intro No intrusive gore No creek dream Less insane asylum Less Cravens Less owl Less cliché townspeople
If interested, send me a PM for the download.

I was with you almost all the way until the very end of your thread. And you know it.

I just did a real rough cut on my phone with a free video app and it came out to 1 hour and 10 minutes. So not a bad guess on my part the other night.
I would have to pay to unlock this app's full features so I couldn't merge my cut files into one or add music or title font.. Oh well, good enough. Now I can at least watch the silly thing my way.
I ended up leaving in Kim seeing Jeff in the electric chair because it's the only time we see the evil really messing with her psychic ability outside seeing the Burkittsville 7.
I also left in Kim finding the file folders because it's a scene that foretells their arrest and was also too difficult on this crappy phone editing app to edit out 1 second from Stephen opening his file in the cop shop and remembering confronting Jeff about it.
Also left in *most* of the ending media coverage because it shows just how screwed Jeff, Stephen, and Kim really are.
The whole stupid thing took me about three hours.
All in all it really wasn't too bad to watch after I finished. Digested much more easily.
Good 'nuff.

I think I'd better upload all my BW goodies for safe keeping.
haha. Just noticed something. An easter egg.
When Stephen is opening his folder it has his real-life name on it. "Turner, Stephen B."

If I remember correctly Berlinger said that he used the actors real name as a tribute to bwp, only later when Artisan started to produce the tie-ins like "Shadows" bw2 sort of became "recreations of real events" so they wanted Berlinger to change the names using ADR (additional dialog recording) to overdub the spoken names. Berlinger said that it would hurt the film too much so that might be the reasons for the studio only changing the actors last names.

I just figured this damn movie out. Only took 16 years.
"She's going to be my mentor. That's why I'm here. To shed my mortal coil and commune with Elly" -- Erica
"Evil intent in the ground, may your release soon be found, in peace release the energy that be through my magic, so mote it be"
Only it didn't come in peace like she had hoped for.
"Seek me no further or the children will again walk free" -- Esrever message.
Erica's wishful thinking and her spell unlocked the curse.
She didn't really want to die, but because of her mentality she did anyway, because she fantasized in the wrong direction.
And in the end the children of Blair, on a witch hunt once again, returned, but this time in the minds of Stephen, Kim, and Jeff.
And Elly also returned, but this time in the mind of Tristen.
Everything we experience while watching this movie is how the characters remember it happening. But ..
"Video never lies Kim. Film does though"
Everything on video at the end of the movie as well as the lost footage from the night before was real.
The End. Case finally closed.

This movie is more clever than most people give it credit for I think, and it is also faithful to the original storyline.

I finally edited the fan-edit, which had already straightened out most of the problems of the theatrical version. one thing that should have been included is the deleted Eileen Treacle scene.

I used to think that same thing, but I have since changed my mind about it.
The original fan-editor talked about "less being more", which I now agree with.
Hearing Tristen describe what she saw in the hospital to Stephen is enough, especially when we see Eileen on the bridge later anyway.
Also, watching the original 'Director's Cut deleted Eileen scene' right after the credits roll is really cool. It becomes like a big revelation bonus thing. "OH! so that's what Tristen saw in the hospital!"

Here are some cool little things I've noticed here and there:
I was mapping out Jeff's loft floorplan layout as it compares to the front bridge entrance. It's kind of whacky.
If you look at the bridge entrance as being the South side, the opposite side of the building as North, the left side of the building as West, and the right side as East..
Anyway, long story short, when Tristen was looking out the window and saw Erica twirling backwards around a little tree, that was on the West side of the building.
Same thing when Stephen looks out the window at the smashed van, also the West side of the building.
Same with the crashing owl. It comes through the big window on the West side of the building as well.
It's just that we never actually see the West side of the grounds from an outside point of view.
Also, where the hell is Erica's chant room located!!??
And where was Kim supposed to sleep? In Erica's room?
When hiking to the Parr ruins, Stephen has pregnant Tristen pack as much weight as him. Miscarriage anyone?
Jeff had a motorcycle in his pot growing room that Stephen never thought about grabbing to get him and Tristen to the airport. Probably too high at the time I guess.
All of Jeff's computer equipment is labeled "Property of Pierson Community College".
Jeff plays guitar sometimes.
Jeff has not one, but two Burkittsville town signs.

Hearing Tristen describe what she saw in the hospital to Stephen is enough, especially when we see Eileen on the bridge later anyway. Yeah well now the psychosis (if you want to call it that) starts with Tristen telling creepy stuff to Stephen and the infection starts to spread. (she's the which after all) so you might be right. Also, watching the original 'Director's Cut deleted Eileen scene' right after the credits roll is really cool. It becomes like a big revelation bonus thing. "OH! so that's what Tristen saw in the hospital!" after the credits? what do you mean? Here are some cool little things I've noticed here and there: Jeff had a motorcycle in his pot growing room that Stephen never thought about grabbing to get him and Tristen to the airport. Probably too high at the time I guess. Jeff plays guitar sometimes. The motorcycle might not have worked, Jeff had a lot of stuff around (like the guitar for instance) and he was trading so who knows...might have been a "needs just a little work and it will run like a rocket"-mc that he got in exchange for "parr foundation"dirt (lol) and the guitar could also have been a trade in. Jeff's mind seemed to be all over the plays with "many balls in the air"...."okay I trade this for that and then fix it up and make some bucks"
