Oh and cropsy, the fan-edit you posted is basically the Director's Cut already. Which is okay but still flawed. The fan editor went by the director's vision as described in the DVD commentary.
I was regering to what you said earlier "all that matters is the character's journey through a major mindtrip until their final doom" so that is the nr.2 cut; for the people that didn't like the intro spoof/pop culture-part.
Yeah but I have the feeling that the real DC moves slower and might be better (at least in parts..I beöieve some triming might have been for the better) I saw the short video of Eileen in the hospital SPEAKING!! and that worked so much better than what we finally got. Makes me wonder, what else was better before they recut it?
When Tristen is asking Erica about her parents. A shot goes from her not having the beer in her mouth to it jump cutting to it being there. It's not my edit, or a DVD rip problem. It's there.
I've gone back and fixed minor audio pops because I couldn't stand it. They let this one go. Good thing I cut it out of the edit.
This "mistake" is actually completely intended and serves a secret point. This is a a unique trick (which would only be noticed by few) to hint that the story Erica just gave to Tristen about her parents is actually a lie. It is an abrupt cut into the "film" of the movie, which is told to us by Jeff as being capable of lying (specifically versus the "video"). So no, they didn't miss anything at all, this is there for a reason.
