So packages are being received from Darktruth. They all seem to be the same and include - - a small stickman figure
- a small cloth bundle bound by twine
- a copy of a hand drawn map of the woods (with a marked trail)
- a small wooden box that contains a USB and some hair
The USB contains 2 small scenes directly from the movie - with one being quite a spoiler that I wouldn't recommend watching in advance of the film. Darknet insinuate that it is evidence the authorities have kept hidden. Silas Lesnick of ComingSoon has made on article about the package (including pictures and the videos) hereSounds pretty sweet. Guess I should have signed up after all.

I managed to see a screening of the new film a few days ago. I can't wait until the film is out and we can discuss it. It will be interesting to read what people thought about it. Just a few more days. Hang in there

There are a few more reviews out there since the TIFF screening. Not all positive . I've seen it referred to as "the Force Awakens of found footage movies". Not sure what to make of that. My enthusiasm is unchanged. Haters gonna hate. They didn't like the first one either. No big surprise. And I liked TFA. So there

The RT score has come down a bit. With only 14 reviews it doesn't take much. I care what the fans think and not what paid reviewers have to say.

They had large stickman props in the lobby at the TIFF screening. I want one of those!

My enthusiasm is unchanged. Haters gonna hate. They didn't like the first one either. No big surprise. And I liked TFA. So there Saw a few reviews tearing the movie to shreds for the things I feared months ago when The Woods trailer came out. Consider me officially, fully cynical about this film. 'TFA of found footage movies' means they copied the story and style of the first film because coming up with something actually new and interesting besides voodoo dolls to add to the story of Blair was too hard. Shooting the actually interesting prequel idea is too much of a monetary risk for a franchise as divisive as Blair. Shooting cheap found footage without the need of writing really anything for a quick profit with the bonus of a bit of brand recognition means easy big bucks for Lionsgate. Which is a little harsh for me, because I liked The Force Awakens. The difference between it and the movie it's rebooting though is about 40 years. It's been 17 for Blair. Artistry and work goes into a film like The Force Awakens, while found footage is practically an assembly-line process at this point. I just can't justify paying to see a movie that seems from what I'm hearing online and seeing in the promo materials to be nothing but a cheap cash grab at a movie I loved as a kid. I'll be sitting this one out. I'll catch it on Netflix one day maybe.

Comparing to force awakens is enough for me.

That's your prerogative and I respect it. I will be there front row center opening night. I'm reserving judgment until after I've seen it. I want it to be good. I suspect it will be. In four days I'll know for sure. As will we all.
The reviews seem to be all over the place. Some love it, some hate it. Something else it has in common with the first one.
It seems I'll need to avoid spoilers and reviews the next few days.

Getting close now. I think a Thurs night viewing of everything TBWP related is in order. Curse, B7, Sticks and Stones, and TBWP. Maybe even Shadow. And then Friday it's off to the theater to get my Blair on!

I'm still dealing with the fact that "It’s been 16 years since Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" was released.
DAMN.

No chance of that. You know, it occurs to me that I saw the original in the same theater I'll be seeing this one. It also occurs to me that it will be after dark when I leave the theater. And I'll have to drive through a dark creepy wooded area to get back home. Hmm.
