I've been afraid to watch it, because I keep hearing about a 50/50 split on it... and I don't want to be disappointed. Shane Black already disappointed me with the horrible Iron Man 3 (easily the worst of the trilogy, though not the Marvel-verse).
Couldn't watch the second half. Dragged on. Boring.
Watched that about two weeks ago and I really liked it. I totally agree that about 2/3 of the movie really drags and it feels like there was a lot that could have been cut to alleviate that feeling, but I really like Denzel Washington's portrayal of Robert McCall and the finale, to me, made it worthwhile. One of the things I didn't like so much about it was the portrayal of McCall as a Superman of sorts. He hardly ever got hit by anyone and always had the upper hand, even when something unexpected came into the picture. On the other hand, since people like to compare them, I kinda absolutely dread the John Wick movies because they feel so boring to me. The action isn't interesting because it feels so inconsequential and cartoon-ish overall (ex: John and Cassian beating the ever-loving crap out of one another and seemingly brushing every blow off, then launching one another down three sets of stone steps, each one bouncing off them harshly, and both getting right back up and continuing to move like not a damn thing hurt. It takes away from any enjoyment or immersion in the scenes). I do applaud that John at least gets hurt, but the character still has a Superman vibe to it (in that there is never a scene that leads me to believe he will be at a disadvantage somehow).
