Looking forward to this. Loved the first one, especially because they stuck true to the original games (with the exception of the female lead). Hope they do with this one too. Most video game adaptions suck.

I see Sean Bean is in this one as well. Same character?

I'm looking forward to this, but it doesn't seem to be getting the best of reviews. We shall see.
Loved the first one, although I never played the games. Bad, I know.

Yep, Sean Bean is playin the same character. Looks like most main characters from the first one make an appearance. As long as I can see the link between the movie and SH3, I'll be happy.

This seems to have been made just for the hardcore game fans. A film should be self-contained and not require tons of background info to make sense. Wait for the dvd if you are curious, otherwise skip it. If you aren't familiar with the games (SH3 in particular) it will make NO sense to you.
I've played the first three games and it made little sense to *me*.

I'd agree with that. I know the director claims to be a gamer but i seriously think he read a plot synopsis of SH3 made by someone who didn't quite get it and tried to ham it together with the first movie and just made a bit of a mess. It's nice to look at, has it's moments, but dear sweet Jesus the end just kills it stone dead. I laughed, literally, and in a big finish to a horror movie that isn't a good thing. Even though for the most part it's nice to see, there were issues with the style here and there, for example in one scene it looks more like a post apocalyptic zombie movie complete with shuffling zombies and random fire. And there's one scene where this girl is introduced for no reason at all and dispatched literally 2 minutes later. She clearly was there as a "favor" if you get my drift, and that spoiled the mood as well as jacking up the mythos of the whole thing slightly. Even with the janky plot it was pretty predictable too. Oh and if you are a fan and have been looking forward to this and have been keeping up with all the trailers and promos be warned, for some reason this scene was cut from the final movie I mean that there kinda gives you a fair impression of the movie. A scene where the main character of the first movie gets re-united with the main character of this movie, her daughter, was deemed not important enough to even be in the movie, but a scene with some random chick who gets introduced and killed within 2 minutes is. It's not a terrible terrible movie, but it's not that great. It's the kinda thing you'll shove on when you're in the mood for something that's alright-ish but doesn't need much attention paying. I just pray this doesn't kill the movie franchise of SH dead, there's so much potential in it, they just need to give it to someone with the brains and talent to work it (and they need to back off and let them do their thing, i'm not gonna lay total blame to Bassett for this movie, not knowing full well the movie studio for the first movie were the ones who insisted on the whole Chris subplot being squeezed in)

Only really heard bad things about this since launch.
Definitely not the sequel that the first one deserves. Disappointing. Seriously, was there any need for 3D whatsoever? Horror + 3D just don't, and shouldn't mix.

You know the 3D is actually one of the aspects i'd maybe praise it on, 3D doesn't really work properly for me most of the time (as in my eyes or brain just don't click with it, i get a teeny tiny bit of depth at best but that's about it) but in this movie it worked alright especially in scenes where the ash was falling, it looked pretty impressive.

Oh god, if one of the films best aspects is the 3D feature and it's a horror, then you know it's a bad film.

I'm sure they won't make any more of these. They killed the series with this one.
