I've never actually seen The Shining, but I've recently noticed that it's just been made available for streaming on Lovefilm Instant. Is it worth watching in your eyes, Tweek? Heard some mixed feelings on the film.

Never seen The Shining?!
It's a horror classic. Yes. See it. How could you NOT have seen this yet?

I'm not too sure. I just don't think I've ever got round to seeing it! I'll give it a watch this afternoon and tell you what I think.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
I think some studio will jump at a chance for an adaption of Dr. Sleep in a few years but a prequel? Really? If they do this, then we're most likely gonna be looking at The Shining Trilogy in five years.

It's a horrible idea, but at least little comfort is they aren't trying to remake the original movie, at least they have sense enough to know touching that would be a complete bomb. The option to make a more faithful adaptation to the book would be there but it's already been done for the TV mini series. I'd far rather they just wait for King to finish Dr.Sleep and adapt that than try to make up their own prequel idea.

The only way this could work is if the movie was set at the Overlook but had nothing to do with The Shining otherwise. Totally separate plot. No mention of the characters from the first one. Except maybe Grady. And call it something besides Shining 2. Please. Then I *might* watch it.

Based on the original prologue by Stephen King? Hmm, I'm intrigued.
