This is a BoS thread. Or am I confused?

yes, but I had jumped over to the original movie and in so doing, seem to have slightly confused a few Blair Witch folks here. I had said "the original film" meaning TBWP but they thought I meant the original BoS. Anyway, some people on the Blu-ray forum have recently been talking about wanting BoS on BD. Still no news in sight. forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=220309

I'll buy this on blu when it comes out. I know I will. Even if I don't really want it.

Yep. I'm a completist. If it's out there I'll have to get it.

Agreed, and it seemed like instead of using the source material they used a film print, so you got grain on digital video, it wasn't a great BD...BW2 being mostly shot on 35mm would benefit much much more from the upgrade than TBWP did...i'd jump at a BD! I haven't seen TBWP on blu-ray and it doesn't sound like much considering what the source was. Sure it wouldn't have look anything near what the average Joe think blu-ray should look but that isn't the point, the point is that blu-ray can more accurately present the source material, and even if we are talking mostly Hi-8 video they could have given us a proper blu-ray release sourced from those Hi-8 cassettes and the 16mm footage. And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the pictured cropped to get rid of the window-box presentation the Region 1 dvd had? I live in Sweden and the dvd released here had the picture lightly zoomed in to crop out the window-box. on to bw2... The reason that TBWP got a blu-ray release (although many thinks it wasn't needed) was that TBWP made money, and a lot of people seem to like it, so...why not? At least I believe that what the studio thought. bw2 might get it's own release when dvd has completely died out and they starting releasing the movies that isn't expected to sell much on blu-ray. Or if BW3 gets made - Wait! it did?...ohh I meant Blair Witch 3, not bw3 :b Or maybe the release bw2 just like Ed's second movie "Altered" as a double bill Or it might not get released at all....just like Dennis Hopper's "the last movie" that film is still not released on dvd, only VHS anyway that's my thought on the subject.

Dream scenario: a 2-disc (or maybe a 3-disc is needed) special edition Blu-ray containing the Theatrical Cut and The Previously Unreleased Director's Cut with a new commentary track. Plus a new documentary about the production/aftermath of the film, and also (ported over from previous dvd edition) Shadows of the Blair Witch, The Burkittsville 7, teaser trailer, theatrical trailer etc.
But that will never happen. EVER!

There's a little more detail there. Far from reference quality. But an improvement.

What special features would you like to see on the blu-ray? Assuming that Lionsgate didn't cheap out like they did with TBWP and just port over what was on the dvd. Shadow needs to be on there, of course. I'd like to have commentary with some of the actors. Deleted scenes would be good. Maybe even... dare I say it? The DIRECTOR'S CUT? I admit that would be a lot to squeeze onto one blu. This would need to be a 2-disc set.

Not if it's on a 50gb blu disc..
Well, I have lost faith, so I'll just say it now: Book of Shadows is dead and buried, and shall never see the blu of day.

Book of Shadows Blu-ray update! Book of Shadows to be released on Ultra HD Blu-ray for the films' 20th Anniversary in October 2020! So start saving up for that UHDTV & UHD Blu-ray player now and by 2020 you'll only need to spend $5000 !!!! Or just wait for the PS5, because it'll probably have a built-in UHD Blu player !! Sorry, but no, there's no update. Did I burst anyone's bubble? But hey, there's one good thing to come out of no Blu release: it keeps the DVD copy rarer. We have to find some way to look on the positive side, right?

What special features would you like to see on the BoS blu? Deleted scenes for sure. Cast commentaries? A second disc with the director's cut?

I'm desperate for a directors cut of bw2, it would be an entirely different film.

I'm desperate for a directors cut of bw2, it would be an entirely different film. Not holding my breath waiting on that one. A blu ray of any sort would suit me. I think someone made a fan edit once that recreated the director's cut. I never could find it online though. Might have been wishful thinking.

Yeah, I know there's no chance. I've been searching for that fan cut for ages but it seems to have been taken offline.

Exactly what I was hoping. I think this new movie will gain so many new fans that the blair franchise will get a huge spark.

Another vote for: here's hoping we see a TON of newly released stuff for the first 2 films now that the third one is almost here.

I don't think Lions Gate are going to care for the old films since they never did before. Ones the new one is out they are going to try to make money on that and start a new franchie, with Blair Witch being the springboard.

Here is the next fifteen year Lionsgate BW franchise lineup: Blair Witch 2: In the Woods Again Blair Witch 3: Still in The Woods Blair Witch 4: Back in the Tent Blair Witch 5: Crossing the Stream Blair Witch 6: The Blue Jelly Blair Witch 7: In the House I'm fine with that. As long as they aren't released 17 years apart. I wouldn't live to see them all. Some of us are quite old.

Either I'm going insane or there is no download link on that page. Also, I downloaded it before when I could still find it and I believe the creator actually posted here saying the links inside the downloadable file that needed JDownloader were dead and empty.

JDownloader? I don't like files that I have to install something to open. Nope. Not happening.
