What are the chances of this movie getting a bluray release. I MIGHT be crazy, but I liked BW2 a whole hell of a lit more than some of the most recent horror releases and remakes!!

It's a matter of time. There are less deserving movies on blu already. This one will get there too.

I think it will definitely get released on blu-ray eventually. I'm looking forward to it as well as I think it will look fantastic!

the question isn't whether it will hit Bluray or not, the question is: will the director's cut ever be released? Joe Berlinger have already made it. He brought it in to the studio and they didn't like it. So it must be sitting on a shelf in a warehouse somewhere, right? Lions Gate only have to Sessa Rieht Fo toU sregniF RiehT Tup

Doubtful. There's no money to be made from it.
I would be interested in seeing the first cut the director turned in to Artisan. Before they made him go back and add the gore scenes and scatter the interrogation scenes. Probably would have been a better film that way.

I made a fanedit that did just that. not a director's cut but it tells the story in the same chronological way. If Hollywood isn't ready to deliver we have to take matters into our own hands, right? Just remember that this is only for people that own the dvd version of Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. Do not support piracy!!! www.megaupload.com/?d=Z0SBC1Q7download the file and open in a program like jDownloader. when everything is done you'll have a Single Layer dvd.

I spotted this on Amazon US, annoyingly limited to US regions only. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091VPY9G/ref=atv_dp_gtv_hd_sibI don't know the quality of their streaming video (i'm not in the US and the streaming service hasn't launched in other territories yet), i think it's comparable to 720p or 1080i, but as far as i know this is as close to an HD version of BW2 that there is. Sadly you can't download it to your PC, for some reason the HD version is limited to streaming on consoles/players/TiVo boxes. If it actually is HD quality at least that would confirm that an HD master is out there. I'm in the minority that actually enjoyed BW2 so i'd love a BluRay or at least HD digital download someday.

I suspect this an upscaled version of the dvd.

That's kinda what i figured, but it does seem strange that Amazon would market something as HD when it's an upscale, a shady looking place sure but Amazons pretty reputable. I did email Lionsgate asking about it but i didn't get any reply. They have their own online store with a SD digital download of the movie so i figured they would know, or could at least find out, but i guess we'll never know.

I'm pretty sure that response is cryptic for 'No'. Even though it wouldn't benefit me, a Blu-ray of BOS would be fantastic!

I know nothings been announced, but with an HD version out there on more and more services but being limited to TV streaming only (which is generally what studios limit new releases to) it just makes me wonder. I mean if they've gone to the effort and cost of doing an HD transfer they must see some potential in it right?

Wrong.
Everything is streamed out in "HD" these days. Has nothing to do with Book of Shadows being released on BD.

No you don't understand, what i'm saying is BW2 is limited to TV streaming only, so you can only stream it if you have an internet enabled TV, BluRay player that can do apps, or a PS3/Xbox. You can't stream it via any of the options i posted to your computer, which is something studios tend to do with new releases because people can figure out how to capture and rip streams easy enough and get a fresh clean HD copy online quickly. If they cut out the computer streaming option though it becomes trickier so most just wait the week or so and buy the BluRay. So what i'm saying is if they intend for this to be it as far as BW2 in HD goes they would probably be allowing computer streaming, but if they have a BD maybe planned then the limiter would make sense.

maybe .. but there's still no entry for it @ bluray.com not even a "TBA"
The original film should not have been released on BD at all. The source material wasn't meant for 1080p The DVD is the real ticket. I have both.

Agreed, and it seemed like instead of using the source material they used a film print, so you got grain on digital video, it wasn't a great BD but it was good to see the alternate endings, short as they were. The BluRay.com database doesn't usually add a release unless a press release has announced it or the movies been released on BD in other regions/part of a boxet but no domestic/single release has been announced yet. BW2 being mostly shot on 35mm would benefit much much more from the upgrade than TBWP did. I've got multiple copies on DVD from various regions (i like it that much) so i'd jump at a BD!

Yeah, a Book of Shadows BD would be welcome. I'm sure it'll arrive within the next few years.

you know, anything that can be streamed to PS3 can be streamed to the PC from the PS3 and copied in HD via the Hauppauge HD Movie box. I'm just shocked nobody has done this yet, and if I were in the US still with all of my equipment I would have copied this awesome movie in HD streamed from some source and upped it to TPB already. Why has nobody done this yet? It's not hard to do. Even if your not living in the US you can still download/stream vids from there in other countries using Hotspot Shield. Sadly I'm living in the Philippines right now for a few years so I have no access to anything to do the job and even if I did the internet is so damn slow here I can't stream anything at all. Any news about this movie on bluray yet?

Original film material has the potential to be a great high definition release on BluRay. We are not talking about a 50s flick here. I for one will buy the Bluray as soon as it is released and it will be sooner or later.

no, I'm right. Most people on this site who have compared the Blu-ray to the DVD prefer the DVD. * I was talking about "The Blair Witch Project" not "Book of Shadows"
