I am really new to this site (I literally just registered a few minutes ago). But I wanted to join it because I LOVE THIS MOVIE. It is one of the only movies that has ever made me feel truly scared. The ending scene actually makes me breathe heavy (not in a gross way) no matter how many times I see it. As it turns out, I live only about 3 hours from where it was filmed, and tomorrow I am going to visit. There is probably a post similar to this on here, but I wanted to start a new one and meet some of the site's members Just wanna know who has been there and what their experiences were like, cuz I'm gonna tell u all about mine! nice to meet you!

Welcome to the group. I am a newbie myself.
This is what I posted in another thread:
I had the pleasure of visiting Burkittsville, MD in the summer of 2002. The hype had died down by this point, so we were the only ones there. Very quiet, very peaceful little town. The locals seemed nice, though no one spoke directly to us. We visited the cemetery during our trip, which was pretty cool. I'll have to post up pictures sometime.
I am disappointed, though not surprised, that the Rustin Parr house has been demolished. I've always talked about visiting it sometime.
According to a YouTube user who took his video camera to the various BWP locations a year or two ago, there is virtually no evidence that the house was even there to begin with. The basement has been filled in with dirt and grass, trees, and shrubbery surround where the foundation of the house was located. Basically, there's nothing left.

Yeah...I didn't even try to go to the Parr house site. It would have been super cool if the house was still there, but I didnt see the point. What I did see was pretty cool though! We found Coffin Rock, and we also found the stickmen pine tree grove! We also think, after watching the movie and comparing our pictures, that we found the log the three crossed and somehow cam back to in the movie. My brother-in-law and little sister had a great time; even if you know nothing about BWP (how could you not??) the park is still a beautiful place. I even parked my car in the exact spot where Josh parked that little Dodge Daytona in the movie. If you get the chance, GO GO GO
