My new PS3 also plays blu-ray movies. I have none of those. Can you recommend some titles that really stand out? Ones where there is a big improvement in quality over standard dvd? My tastes lie mostly in horror and action titles. No chick-flicks please

I just ordered The Shining and Full Metal Jacket BDs from Amazon. Got a good price, and the reviews on the site say that the quality is great. I've always wanted those two in widescreen.
BTW, Wal-Mart's blu-ray section is seriously weak. Maybe a dozen titles, none of which are worthy of BD treatment.

The quality of older movies don't seem to be as great as newer releases because grain still seems to be somewhat noticable IMO but they are still a lot better than DVD quality. Though if you don't have a HD TV you won't see any difference so buying blu-ray would be pointless.
Anyways I bought both The Shinning & Full Metal Jacket at Wal-Mart and the quality is great. Wal-Mart usually has a bunch of blu-ray for $18 (which is what I bought The Shinning & Full Metal Jacket for). I also bought Close Encounters of the Third Kind which looks awesome on blu-ray. The Dark Knight is also a must IMO, it looks amazing. I also bought Halloween, Nightmare Before Christmas, 300 & Twister which look awesome. I have a bunch of other movies but those stand out the most.
I also bought Terminator 2 but I think it being on blu-ray made some of the special effects look really cheesey especially when they use a blue screen because it's very noticable.

My local Wal-Mart has a bigger blu-ray selection than they did. But they are overpriced. Amazon has much better deals.
