Take this with a grain of salt but i was looking on the wikipedia page for book of shadows and game across this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Shadows:_Blair_Witch_2#SequelsSequels There have been rumours over the Internet that there was going to be another Blair Witch movie. One of the things that point to a third movie is attributed being able to do an online search for the name "Elly Kedward" (one of the main Protagonists in the Blair Witch backstory) with one of the results being a website entitled The Trial Of Elly Kedward, which states that the "project" is "coming soon." On September 10th, 2008 Morgan Creek productions said that the film had been given the go ahead and would be released Halloween 2009. However, the film's name has been changed to The Beginning: Blair Witch 3. A fourth film is also in the early stages, but it is said that it will be completely separate from the other three films and will follow a supernatural killing spree in the town of Blair. The fourth film's current working title is Blair.

I'd be pumped if it is true but seeing as the information is from wikipedia I don't think it's accurate.
But I hope it is! ;D

Yeah, wikipedia isn' always accuracte, to me it seems like it could be true because companies do produce direct to video movies back to back, like the sleepaway camp movies, hellraiser movies, basketcase movies. I can't image anyone putting out a blair witch movie out this many years later and putting it in theaters.

Most likely bogus, but I'll consult the ouija board and see...

I just hope if this is true, the movies can be atleast half decent.

Wishful thinking at best. The WIKI entry is entirely false, with someone having entered that "On September 10th, 2008 Morgan Creek productions said that the film had been given the go ahead and would be released Halloween 2009. However, the film's name has been changed to The Beginning: Blair Witch 3. A fourth film is also in the early stages, but it is said that it will be completely separate from the other three films and will follow a supernatural killing spree in the town of Blair. The fourth film's current working title is Blair."
Morgan Creek made no such claim on September 10th.
That public edit was begun on September 11 this year by an IP address that has a history of vandalising entries and making false claims. Unfortunately it is a shared IP address thus it's nearly impossible to narrow it down to one individual.
The only relationship between "Morgan Creek" and "Beginning" is that MG produced "Exorcist: The Beginning" in 2004.
If there was to be an announcement, you would find it at HAXAN first.
That is not to say a prequel is dead in the water. The desire remains, and should both parties (HAXAN and LION's GATE) agree on such an idea, then it'll be here and/or through LG that information will be made.
To put any rumors at rest: HAXAN met with LION's GATE in Spring of 2004 to discuss a treatment for a prequel. I won't discuss the details of that meeting here, it's not my place to do so, but I will go so far as to say that agreements were not met, however doors were not closed on the subject.
In-so-far as Elly Kedward, as a result - the domain is on reserve for HAXAN, LION'S GATE and any other production company that might be involved should production occur.
My mistake was in having "coming soon" placed on the site, which I should correct. Though I'm at a loss as to what to include on a site that is not currently active, yet is far from dead.
There is in fact a treatment for ELLY, both pre and post "trial," but for as long as the gates remain open between HAXAN and LG I won't, and cannot, include it on the site.
Next year celebrates the 10th anniversary of the release of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, and with that will come some activity from HAXAN as well as the sites involved, including ELLY's domain, but I don't want to announce what yet.
Some plans for that are already made, and others still in the making at this writing.
The point is - to not lose faith. Rumor's abound that Elly is in the works and that Elly is long since dead. Neither is true. Call it the "purgatory" of the witch for now.
I want to be very careful in the words I select here. I can only speak on behalf of HAXAN as their archivist and designer. I am not their filmmaker obviously.
But one thing I do know is that at times some ideas are prematurely negated whereas others are prematurely announced. And either/or can start rumors that aren't true.
If and when there is a prequel, and if and when it involves ELLY, it will be at HAXAN's site where you will find that information by either Ed, Gregg, Rob, Mike, Dan or myself. That information would not be announced on WIKI, where anyone, including some kid who sits in his mother's basement trolling the net announcing that Britney Spears has been cast in the role of Heather Donahue in the 14th installment of BLAIR WITCH on the WB.
WIKI is a profound resource, and much of it bullshit. You open the doors for anyone to edit, and you invite crap.

Well, at least we'll have some activity for the anniversary. And I'm glad for Elly, she should be having some fun in purgatory. After all that cold in the winter some non-extreme heat should work miracles on her.
... Wonder what a Heather would my dear Britney perform anyway hehe.

You know not what you speak.
There's virtually no chance of another Blair, according to Dan. He holds out hope but it slips away every year that goes by. So, for the last time, no..... there is no more Blair movies coming. Not now, not tomorrow, and probably not even most of next year.
And before you say how would I know, Dan and I have discussed it quite a bit, often discussing it in our private discussions about what I could and could not do with Seven.
It is what it is, there's no sugar coating it. But what I can tell you is Dan and the Haxan boys won't dissapoint us with some awesome stuff coming for the anniversary.
Of course, you could pray for another movie. But I wouldn't count on that working either.

As much as I want another BW movie I know it's not going to happen.
Well maybe in 10-20 years from now when hollywood runs out of ideas so they decide to resurrect an old franchise in hopes of making some money off it.

they're already there, bro. have been for years.
Robocop is being remade.
Red Dawn is being remade.
And Michael Bay is being allowed to make a transformers sequel.
Yet Halo can't get a budget, and neither can I...
Coming in 2020, The Blair witch Project... with an all ethnic urban cast with new charachters, some of which will be gay.
You watch, it'll happen. I'm just glad I'll never live to see it happen.
