The purpose of that site was to discourage movie fans from visiting Burkittsville. As for the Blair myths, believe what you like and have fun with it

Personally, I think the gene pool is really shallow here! (I'm just kidding) but seriously, these people could be making a bundle marketing The Blair Witch. We have weekly town meetings and discuss fatcs about the legend of the Blair Witch so everyone is on the same page. We throw a Blair Witch Festival several times a year and sell our Blair Witch Arts and Crafts, Homemade Blair Woods Beer, Stick-figues, Blair Witch T-Shirts, dirt and rocks from your backyard, Coffin Rock keychains... I would have the neatest little Blair Witch store with many homemade items. We would send one bit invitation to all the fans out there to come to our little Blair Witch Town! Well, that's just me! Every little town needs a little legend every now and then and they should just be happy it's theirs!

Seriously guys, it's not real! It's based on a bunch of old ghost stories, and put together into a low budget film. If it was real, they wouldn't of released it to the public, much less to a couple guys with a web site! Did no one else read the Bonus features on the DVD? Man, that was a convincing movie...

How can anybody still wonder if this is real? No not at all. It is all fiction. The only real ghost is that of THE BELL WITCH in Tennessee. Trust me. The film makers have talked about this over and over again. Those three were on the cover of Time and Newsweek. They were on Jay Leno. Come on. My parents live in Clarksville and that is right next to Adams Tennessee which is where the Bell Witch is from and is. That is the real legend and it has nothing to do with Blair Witch. Blair Witch is fiction.

I think that Burkittsville is mentioning this legend, to attract tourists, course, they are a town, and when people come, they have more money :-), but anyway, just my view about all of this. I think that some of the tourists who hear the legend, are not so intrested in just seeing the town, and go around all the time. They wanna see the woods, and hunt some witches haha :-) just like I do :-)

I consider my-self to be quite a wise and intelligent person, who is open-mined but also very realistic. The least probable possibility to which I would give still a good 5% of chance is unnatural phenomenon. This is mostly based on the night when they ran into the wood because they heard children running around them followed by weird chirping noises and the tent moving erratically. That sequence is very odd and almost out-of-this world. The next possibility (25%) is that the three producers would make all of the stories to market it later and make profit out of it. The original scenes are somewhat planned, it always gets worse and worse, and frankly would you go into a reputed haunted wood near Halloween without more preparation than they had. It would still seem highly unlikely that three people who barely know each other would do that, but when people put their mind to it, they can achieved what everyone would think is impossible. The most probable thing in my mind (70%) is a satanic triple murder crime. The fact that they disappeared between the 23 and the 25 of October, the exact time of the autumn equinox which is reputed to be a Satanic astronomical holiday is way to coincidental. Add to that, that the area is reputed to be haunted, which would naturally seems perfect for a Satanic orgies. Also, I think that some of the police of the area could be in the cult. Now I don’t want to disrespect the police force anywhere in the world for they do a better job than many other organisation, but you must acknowledge that like doctors who are often susceptible to alcoholism, divorces and drug addiction because of the high responsibility level that they are under, the police is often psychologically weaken because of their involvement in murder and criminal activity on a daily basis, I mean EVERYONE as a mental breaking point. Finally, I could very well imagine a sixteen years old who in 1974 got with a strange cult of weird sex practice and drug consumption, which were the craze back then, get involve in the reputably falsely believed satanic heavy metal music doing readily available cocaine in America and practicing incest and small ritual sacrifices in the 80’s, could easily become a thirty six ear old killer by 1994. If you think it’s unreal, well all cult, especially Satanic ones, have a very strict code of secrecy and are often surprising well organises to the point that they could maintain the existence of the ritualistic cult for many decades. But all possibilities are open because even with all the scientific knowledge in this world there’re always mysteries like this who seem to baffle the mind and go beyond the limits of what seems to be impossible. But the second and third movies are obviously purely marketing strategies.
