Hi there, Pondering after refreshing myself of the mythology of the BW, and the various events throughout, I hit upon something and thought it fairly interesting . From 1785 onward, after Elly's death and spiritual return, her presence or form has varied markedly from time to time, encounter to encounter; the hairy chimera mentioned in the "Blair Witch Cult", the kindly, floating old woman who befriended Robin Weaver and the hooded, cloaked figure who haunted Rutsin Parr etc. I was wondering as to what form members here find most distinct or imposing and what, if any, could be the significance to the shapes she has taken over the years? pennedlore.

I've always thought that Elly does not have a true form. Her aspect depends on the person encountered. Sometimes terrifying, sometimes not.

That's a good way to look at it

I kinda thought the same. I think she may have some kind of form which is hers but maybe she is more of an entity who can take which ever form depending on the encounter.

My brother took a shortcut through burkittsville,to save some time on a trip and I told him if he sees some hot chick trying to hitch a ride, don't dare stop and pick her up,it could be the blair witch instead, trying to trick him

I always imagined her as a ghostly old woman who glided across the forest, especially when linked to the Robin Weaver tale. 'An old woman's feet that never touched the ground.' Although I do think she is often more of an unseen force.

If she appeared to me as a hotty I'd be hers forever. You'd be hers forever anyway. Whatever form she takes. Once you see her, she sees you. Game over.

I often wander about the house late at night just to see if she shows up to "get me". So far nothin'.

Children don't see her in a "scary" form. She wouldn't have been able to grab them if she was terrifying. Only adults seem freaked out when she appears.

a trickster spirit form will take on any image they wish to trick their victim before going in for the kill.

Elly reveals herself when and how she wants. Probably invisible most of the time. I could see her following H M and J around the woods like the pov chase scene in Evil Dead 2.
