This was shot before the movie (BOS), correct? How much information did you have on what the film was going to be about? I think your work is more interesting than the movie itself. It had more of a connection to the first film.
Were you asked to do any work on the sequel?

The only part of Burkittsville 7 or Shadow that was shot before the actual first movie came out was the Rustin Parr archival footage. That was a part of "Phase 2," and made it into "Curse of the BW."
The rest of B7 was made for Showtime, to run after the first film premiered on that network. We shot it over six or seven days (if memory serves), with a fun two day stint at the former Camarillo State (mental hospital -- then closed).
"Shadow of the Blair Witch" came a little later (just a few weeks, truth be told), and was designed to do for the sequel what "Curse" had done for the original.
I was never personally tapped for the sequel by Artisan, but I probably wouldn't have done it anyway without the blessing of the rest of the team. When it was looking like WE would make the sequel (for a few weeks there, anyway), I was definitely going to be involved, probably on the writing end.
I don't think it would have occured to Artisan to give me a feature at that time anyway, because they had no idea that I did more than Production Design (yeah, right -- my only C in college was in Art Direction class). They might have considered it (I wouldn't have held my breath) after seeing what I did with the specials, but that would have required expensive time traveling equipment not yet invented.

I just realized what you meant by BOS -- my bad.
We actually shot B7 at the same time as BOS. Neal and I actually went out to Baltimore to shoot some interviews to be used in "Shadow," but they never were used.
We shot "Shadow" after there had been a first cut of BOS. We kind of tailored that project around BOS, writing it for particular scenes, etc.

Where can I find Shadow of the Blair Witch? Was able to find B7 just this morning, most of them go for insane prices, for some reason, but I cannot find SOTBW. Sigh. 1 and 2, still gotta love them. By the way, when BWP came out, you realize how many haunted houses picked up and made rooms or themes of them? Quite a few....

I think it is out of print now. Your best place to look would be eBay. It's on the same tape as Massacre of the Burkittsville 7.

Kewlsome, both for the price of one. I found B7 for 18 bucks on Ebay which is far better a price than the 35-40 its going for these days! Still urinated off a friend ripped me off my 2 copies of BW1 and 1 copy of BOS (had 2 and 2, mainly in picking up a blair wtich eexperience thing for 5 bucks), so I had to re-order BW1 once again. Sigh. Least B7 is on its way and BOS is still here to show another frined who had never seen it yet..... Me happy today, got another distributor for my music CD! check out www.spookycd.com. It ties in with professional voice work for haunted houses....
