You could say that "Det Okända" is a Swedish Blair Witch clone. I doubt that you've ever heard of it. I was laughing when I first read about this one... The movie makers were all excited because they used the actors real names in the movie... And this was after BW! ;D There's obvious similarities, a group go into the woods only to encounter some evil, and the footage is very "amateur" like. Though, in Blair Witch it served an obvious purpose, but Det Okända is not shot by the people starring in it, so I guess they went for that technique to give it a little of the Blair Witch feeling. Anyway... I was assuming that the movie would be really, really bad. But in fact it was not. It was not great, but not too bad at all I thought. It had "borrowed" a lot from The Blair Witch Project for sure, but it also had a lot of differences. I think you could say that this movie proves that Blair Witch inspired horror fans to make their own cost efficient movies, realizing that it's possible to make horror movies without tonnes of CGI and special FX, and that must be a good thing! I love movies like that. us.imdb.com/Title?0243465

Oh... And one more thing I just need to know... I read that you named your company Haxan after the old Swedish movie "Häxan" (Witchcraft through the ages) Being a Swedish Blair Witch fan, I thought that was really cool! Is it true??

Yeah, it's true.
We ran into the new version of HAXAN with the Burroughs narration and the funky jazz score while we were doing research for BW. Gregg, Dan and I loved that damn thing. It blew us away when we found out when it had originaly been done.
So Gregg came up with the idea to call our company HAXAN and Dan and I agreed.

That's great! ;D It's from 1922 I think! Same year as "Nosferatu" was made! I haven't seen Häxan in a long time, last time was on Swedish TV, but it's a very cool movie, and I plan to buy the Criterion DVD any day now... I remember when I first read about Blair Witch and also read that the production company was called Haxan, I sort of suspected that it could be related to the Haxan movie, but of course I didn't know for sure...

I liked Det Okända Well, Sweden is my neighbour country after-all =P Aha! You're from Suomi! Nice! "Det Okända" wasn't bad. Nothing compared to TBWP, but still pretty alright! Pratar du svenska Sami?
