if i made a mistake saying all this and im proven wrong then so be it,but you can not deny the seriousness of what is on the other link i put on here.and i havent heard any comment from anyone on the board about it yet.if part of this story is true, then the main part of why it would be covered up is no one wants their kids being seen nation wide being paraded around going through their last terrifying moments of whatever happened to them.plus some very disrespecting people came to Burkittsville vandalising the community after the movie first came out nationwide.these reasons are good grounds for this to occur.we may never know for sure if this really all happened or not because it is so easy to erase all these records of events when the governing body take charge

i just tried this link and it should work because it took me straight back to it.the link is SPIRIT DAILY.NET THE BLAIR WITCH.i should also like to make it clear im not total in agreement about what this guy says about the supernatural as i have done my share of investigating haunted places on my own these past several years. it is the shocking realization about the fact he knew about the early reports of three students who went into these woods and mysteriously disapeared long before the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT came out.now those records cant be found and that is very disturbing.

hello its great to hear from anyone on the board about this and i just wanted to clarify that i believe there is something going on with this because i met someone who told me the same thing several years ago before i saw this link here i posted. im merely showing this because i have had an interest in ghosts and anything supernatural that science has not and in my humble opinion will not accept or be able to explain in so called rational terms because this goes far beyond anything that they deem as normal.i was told that the movie THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT was based on the disapperience of some college students who really did go into the Burkittsville woods to document the legend of a witch and never came back as they should have.a massive search was undertaken by the state police and authorities.and yes some reels of video footage showing the kids daily activities was discovered a year later.im not claiming i know every thing about this case because i dont.and i also think the movie directors and producers made the right choice by showing the actors rather than the real missing students in the found footage.all who wish to debate with me on the board about this, even if you hate my guts or think im looney are more than welcome to do so.

I am not claiming any wrong doing by the movie directors for I was merely stating about what I had discovered on a letter I had seen posted on a web site that revealed some missing information from the events that REALLY could have taken place during the fall of 1993 and 1994 when some collage students went missing in the Burkittsville woods of Maryland. here is the link and you can make up your own mind SPIRIT DAILT.NET THE BLAIR WITCH. there are cases where people get lost for good around forests and state parks and are never heard from again. after so many days such cases will be taken off the missing persons list and the persons who vanished will be declared dead.

okay TWANA, if you came across anything like this that would indicate something strange and maybe even SUPERNATURAL really could have happened to a group of kids who got lost in the woods and a movie was made based on some missing found film footage, why wouldn't you want to know more about something that was covered up by the authorities after so many years of denying it ever happened? I don't know if this link is absolutely true or not, but as a firm believer in ghosts and all things that go bump in the night.........YES SUCH THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. If ED SANCHEZ and the movie directors were to tell me it never happened-they made the whole thing up then fine. I will take their word on it and move on. I have nothing against ED and yes I liked the BLAIR WITCH films as a horror movie fan which is why I want to know all I can about the facts and the fiction surrounding everything I heard or read about it. HOPE EVERYONE HERE HAD A HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND MY BEST TO YOU ALL.
It's not impossible that some aspects of the BW mythology were inspired by real events. I read somewhere that the Elly Kedward character was inspired in part by the Bell Witch legend (which is not fiction).

just recently I bought a book about haunted places in the state of MARYLAND called GHOST HUNTING MARYLAND by MICHAEL J.VARHOLA and MICHAEL H.VARHOLA, and it has a chapter in it about the haunted woods in BURKITTSVILLE and this will really blow your mind since most critics have denied there was ever any BLAIR WITCH, according to one of these authors who claimed to know that areas history and a long time resident.......THERE WAS A REAL BLAIR WITCH named ELLY KEDWARD who was banished from that little town for practicing WITCHCRAFT in the woods of BURKITTSVILLE. so the BELL WITCH of TENNESEE had nothing to do with the BLAIR WITCH, they were both separate entities from the same time period. most of the ghosts that are centered around those woods are spirits of CIVIL WAR SOLDIERS and you can hear their footsteps and see their spectral forms around where they fought and died. I know you can get a lot of contradictory answers and information on the internet and critics who will forever debunk things they will never agree with no matter what the evidence will show so I try my hardest to get the right information which these days is not an easy task. check this book out when you have the chance. there are many districts in MARYLAND that are haunted, not just BURKITTSVILLE.
I see the book you are talking about. If you scroll down to the Western Maryland excerpts you will see it mentioned. The author clearly did not fact check. Five minutes on Google would confirm the BW mythology is fiction. The makers of the film have said so. Ben Rock wrote it. As I said, it's possible that actual events could have inspired the fictional ones.

thank you for your input. of course you may be right but after you check on this authors credentials you will find he is a life long resident of MARYLAND so he should have known better if what you say is correct. read the chapter he wrote about BURKITTSVILLE paranormal history and also click on this link SPIRIT DAILY.NET and read the post about someone who has knowledge about the disappearance of 3 college students who were doing a documentary about a WITCH LEGEND. now I am not in agreement about everything this guy wrote about organized religion. its what he claims to know about the BLAIR WITCH that's stunning. THIS IS DYNAMITE like no other I have seen posted yet. BE PREPARED TO BE SHOCKED as it will not be like anything you expected....
